THE CHOICE

Kagome never thought that living in the feudal era could actually tear her life apart. She didn't know what to do anymore. She loves her family way too much to leave them, but doesn't she love HIM too?

She has never been loved so passionately and so carefully. It almost feels like being cared for by an angel. Would she choose Him over them? Is he really worth that much of a sacrifice?

"Kagome, I am about to leave, please inform the others about your departure."

"I will. Thank you Sesshomaru."

A step closer, he gave her a sweet chase kiss. Unknown to him, he only made her choice harder tenfold. She can't leave him, not now. Not when he needed her the most.

Kagome waved goodbye to her sweet prince, hoping that it won't be the last. The double doors swung open letting the radiance of the sun seep through the cold dark castle. At that moment she recalled all her days in the woods all her travels with her companions, searching for jewel shards not even knowing where to look.

She was going down memory lane as the light left a warm feel in her surroundings. She remembered how love struck she was with Inuyasha and how hurt and broken she would get every time her chose Kikyo.

She giggled at the thought, at her childish behavior. It was nothing but a mere infatuation.

Right now, Kagome cannot thank God enough for letting her meet the man or let's say demon, that made her feel whole. Thinking back to her earlier debate with herself, should she stay or should she go?

I know that my family would understand. That they would never protest against what make me happiest, but could I? Could I handle it? I cannot even take the thought of never seeing them, hearing their voices and not feeling the love that they continued to shower upon me no matter what the circumstances.

Finally she broke.

She couldn't handle the pain that she would cause either way. Whatever her decision may be someone would get hurt. She cannot endure that much weight on her, the sorrow they would feel while she is happy.

A choice must be made.

Later that night Sesshomaru came home to nothing but utter silence. He retreated to his quarters only to find it empty and dull. He knew that without her there to kindle his life with pure bliss, everything would mean nothing.

He stared at the side of the bed where she slept. Closing his eyes, he breathed in her sweet scent thinking that she was there with him. Silent tears fell from his eyes flaunting the heartache that was bursting from his chest.

He could not take the loss. He always thought that he was enough but thinking through, he knew that he was second to none. Who was he to think that someone like her would choose a cold, relentless killer over her own flesh and blood?

Sesshomaru was beating his self senseless with the continuous insults and discouragements he repeated through his head. Letting his mask go, he showed the pain he could contain. Slowly walking towards the bed, he then slowly drifted into deep sleep.

Morning came and sesshomaru felt nothing but… warmth?

Shocked by the feeling he opened his eyes, turned over to find his love sleeping soundly next to him.

Was it all a dream? He thought.

He could not care less, as long as she was back, as long as she were to stay with him forever he did not care.

Kagome shifted and slowly opened her eyes only to be greeted by golden orbs.

"Good morning, Sesshomaru."

"Good morning, my love."
