Hello!
This story has been put on hold for a long time, I've had the idea running in my head forever and finally decided to put it down in words. Boku no Hero is one of my favorite Manga's out there right now, I'm guilty of re-reading it at least a couple times so I figured why not publish the story. :D
The first few chapters will take place before the entrance exam.
Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoy. :3
Edited. (Personal note: Many thanks to XxAmyTheGreatxX for pointing out the grammar mistake I made. ^∇^)
I do not own Boku no Hero Academia.

Chapter One:
Snakes amidst the grass
"This week marks its third disappearance in the last month, the support hero Ivy was reported missing last night after they failed to return from patrol duty."
The reporter's voice boomed throughout the small café, a large T.V. hung overhead beside the front counter, and deep blue eyes trailed languidly away from the news to stare down at her cup of coffee.
Plopping in a cube of sugar she noisily clattered her spoon against the porcelain as she stirred, a small frown breaking over her face when she earned a glare from the man sitting beside her, mumbling under his breath about how kids these days had no respect.
"It's advised to the public to stay indoors at night, and to always be aware of your surroundings when heading out alone."
She let out a small hum, apparently there'd been a sudden overload of disappearances in the last several months, ranging anywhere from low ranked heroes to average civilians and even the occasional villain. Despite numerous investigations the perpetrator had yet to be caught, and according to various online forums no bodies nor any concrete evidence were ever received.
It was scary to think that it could happen to anybody, that one day you'd be living your everyday life only to have it dragged away from right under your feet within a moment's notice.
Yes, life was terrifying in that regard.
She finished off the last of her coffee, gathering the rest of her things the girl sauntered towards the cashier, hand shoved in her bag as she wrestled for her wallet. "Ah, I'll be with you in just a moment ma'am!" The head barista shouted over her shoulder, fingers fiddling away at one of the many blenders.
By the time she had managed to find her wallet in the abyss she called a bag the barista had already bounded over, lips curved up into a friendly smile. "Hi, how can I help you?"
"Can I just have one of your Cotton Candy frappes please?"
"Of course, what size?"
"The biggest one you've got."
Reaching for the cups stacked to the side she let out a laugh, "This drinks been our most popular seller, but it's a little too sweet for my tastes. Mind if I get a name hon?"
"You can just put Umi down." Blue eyes scanned the various desserts assorted neatly in the display case, delicate pastries and neatly detailed cookies with colorful frosting sat atop the frilly lace trays. Umi's eyes zoned in on one particular strawberry cake, hands splayed on either side of the glass. "I'll also take one of those cakes!"
She stood by the adjacent counter, watching attentively as the barista used her quirk to stretch her limbs across the kitchen area. It made sense though, why there would only need to be one person working at a time if someone had such a useful Quirk at hand.
Moments later a ghastly bright pink drink was slid her way, a mound of whip cream at the top that barely fit through the lid with a dashing of sprinkles to top it all off. To speak lightly it was a cavity waiting to happen, one Umi couldn't wait to get ahold of, in her book desserts always came first, she could regret her questionable life choices later.
Umi went to reach for her wallet but the barista stopped her, shaking her head she held out the small paper bag that contained her delectable cake. "It's on the house." She opened her mouth to protest but the woman eagerly waved her off. "Call it my good deed for the day."
"Well, if you're sure..."
"Don't look so uncertain! If you're worried I'll get in trouble don't, my manager does things like this from time to time as well." She offered Umi a playful wink, nearly tripping over her own feet with how fast she turned when the welcome bell jingled from the front door. "Ah, before I forget you should be careful walking around these parts alone Umi-san! Have a good rest of your day dear!"
Without waiting for her to respond she was bounding off towards a hoard of customers at the front, and Umi let out a tired sigh, she wondered how one person could be so cheerful so late in the evening.
Shrugging her shoulders she dropped five hundred yen into the tip jar, a smile set on her lips as she hurried out the door with a skip to her step.
Umi had a feeling today was going to be a good day.
Just kidding.
She took it back, today was not going how she'd planed at all.
"You little brat!"
Umi let out a grunt as her back was shoved against the wall, eyes narrowed in irritation at the group of men standing before her. At her feet lay a crushed bottle of beer, shards of glass scattered about and a pool of amber was already beginning to seep into the soles of her boots.
In all fairness it hadn't been her fault she bumped into the man and so happened to accidently spill her drink all over him, she was just minding her own business when out of nowhere he'd stumbled into her and demanded she pay for a new shirt.
Getting into minor tuffs with local thugs was something that happened on a normal basis, when one lived on the streets it wasn't uncommon to run into trouble, robbery, or even assault, it was all part of the daily routine that had become a part of her life.
"Oi! I'm talking to you." The man gripped the girl by her collar, easily lifting her off from the ground.
"Haha...this is all just a big misunderstanding mister." Umi laughed weakly, and raised her hands in front of her, fingers curling around her shirt in an attempt to pry the man's hands off and away from her throat. "You can let go of me now."
"Are you messing with me?" He practically growled, eyes narrowing into tiny slits.
"No, no absolutely not I would never."
She blinked in surprise when rock like protrusions began to sprout from beneath the man's skin, lining across the tops of his hands where it overlapped the thickest on his knuckles like a makeshift pair of brass knuckles. "I don't like your tone kid."
"And that's my problem how?" Umi murmured, bangs sliding to shield her eyes as her hands fell limply at her sides. She could feel her quirk come to life beneath her skin, the cool rush of energy that sent a hum of adrenaline up her spine.
Her head tilted to the side, eyes darkening as she looked up at the group of men that surrounded her, a wide grin splitting her lips as the man's fist reared backwards. "Let—"
"Let go of her!" Umi's entire body tensed, she could hear the sound of clunky footsteps rushing towards them, and she would've turned her head to look but two giant rock fists held her in place against the wall. "I called the police and they're on their way!"
Thankfully those words seemed to do the trick because in the next moment Umi was being roughly dropped to the ground, lower back scraping against the brick as she slid down with a loud thump. The men threw a few more choice words her direction, and in retaliation she raised her middle finger to them as they rounded around the corner and disappeared from sight.
"Assholes…" Umi rubbed at her tender skin, wincing when the point of her fingernail tapped a bit too harshly into one of the scratches.
From the corner of her eye she spotted a pair of bright red sneakers, tilting her head to the side she quirked a brow at the boy who now stood a few feet away, his body hunched forward with curled fists resting against his knees as he breathed heavily.
"Are you okay?" He panted between puffs of air, "I didn't expect them to leave so fast with the bluff. They didn't hurt you did they?"
Umi regarded the boy wearily, blue eyes trailing from his mass of curly hair to his wide green eyes, and finally over the freckles dusted across his cheeks. He looked to be around her age around 15 or so, with a bright yellow colored backpack strapped over his shoulders.
He held his hand out to her offering a small grin, blinking up at him Umi slowly took his hand and with a grunt he helped pulled her upright. She dusted off her pants, frowning at the disarray of her clothing she straightened out her crumpled collar, hands trailing up to tousle free any knots that had tangled themselves in her hair.
"Good it looks like you're fine, I got worried for a second when I walked by and—"
Umi cut him off, "Why?"
"I-I'm sorry?"
"Why did you help me? Most people would've just called for the Heroes then be on their way."
He paused at her words, eyes widening slightly and the boy nervously scratched at the back of his neck. "Well—it would've taken them awhile to get here…a-and no one else looked like they were going to do anything so I just sort of thought I'd help out?"
Umi watched him silently for a few moments before breaking out into a grin. "Is that so? Well you have my thanks—um…"
"Midoriya Izuku, and it's no trouble really!"
"Mmm, nice to meet you Midori-chan you can call me Umi."
Midoriya looked taken aback at the nickname, he'd only ever really had one nickname before, and it had always meant more of an insult then a sincere way of referring to someone. So in a strange way it felt almost nice to be addressed in a more positive way, his gaze met Umi's and he offered the girl a shy smile. "Umi huh…it suits you."
"What?"
"O-Oh it's just your hair and eyes are really blue so it fits with you know…your name haha." Smooth Midoriya, real smooth. He cringed at how awkward he sounded, he never had been good at keeping a conversation going with strangers, and the fact that he had the confidence of a snail at times didn't help either.
"Well I think your name goes with you as well since you're you know, green." She teased, mimicking his choice of words. Umi felt her phone go off in her pocket and she sighed, pulling it out she ignored the blinking messages and looked at the time. "Say Midori-chan this might sound kind of sudden but how about I treat you to some WcDonald's, it's the least I can do for you coming to help me out."
Midoriya couldn't help the light flush that spread down his cheeks to his neck, with a small jerk he nodded his head. "I-I'd like that."
"Ah I haven't been here in forever!" Umi stretched her arms above her head, nostrils flared as she inhaled the scent of grease. "Gotta love the aroma of their 'World Famous Fries'." She dramatically held a hand to her cheek in awe.
She turned her head to look at Midoriya, who strangely enough was standing a good distance behind her, he looked awkward gaze flittering around while his hands fiddled with the collar of his school uniform.
Her gaze softened and she reached out, grasping at his wrist and pulling him forward so that he was standing beside her. Green eyes stared at the slender fingers wound around his wrist, her skin was cold against his, and he took note of the blue polish on her nails detailed with golden stars.
Umi's hand slipped away to point at the menu, "Feel free to order anything you want."
"A-Are you sure? I don't mind paying for myself it's no big deal."
"Yeah it's no big deal dude, you helped me out earlier so it's only fair. Besides I'm just paying it forward." Her mind wandered back to the kind lady from the café, and she couldn't help but feel guilty at the fact that it had all been wasted on some asshole who couldn't watch where he was going. "See anything you like?"
"Well I do like the shakes they have here."
"Right, the vanilla ones are pretty bomb!" Umi gushed, seeing as her earlier escapade for sweets had been foiled, she couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of finally getting something sugary in her system.
After they had ordered their food they found a table near the back of the fast-food joint, Midoriya had opted for a regular meal with a chocolate shake while Umi on the other hand had ordered a mound of food followed by a large vanilla shake.
For someone so petite she sure ate a lot of food.
"Are you sure you can eat all that yourself?" Midoriya questioned as he unwrapped his own burger, and Umi merely nodded her head with a mouthful of fries.
"I'm pretty active so my metabolism has always been super high." She took a sip of her drink, eyes curiously drifting around the establishment towards the many people situated at the various tables around them. "It's hard for me to keep weight on so I usually have to eat a decent amount to stay consistent you know?"
Midoriya hummed, he could relate, he didn't normally eat a lot but even when he did his weight had always usually stayed consistent. He wasn't on the muscular side being rather slim, but even then he supposed it was a rather convenient trait with its perks.
Having finished her second burger Umi wiped the grease from her lips, she reached for her phone and checked the screen, 23 unread messages, popped up and she felt her brow twitch. Setting it on the table she rested her chin atop her palm. "So…tell me about yourself Midori-chan."
"T-There isn't really much to say about myself." He began, there wasn't much to him so he decided to turn the question back to Umi.
"Nope, I asked you first. Tell me anything, hobbies, interests, the works." She rebutted back with a smile, if there was one thing Umi could tell about Midoriya despite having first met him is that he was very shy, not to mention he didn't seem used to going out and hanging out with people, let alone some stranger he had met off the street.
Umi was in no way a shy person, she had a tendency of being a loudmouth and sarcastic which often got her in trouble, she didn't have difficulty making any friends yet she had never felt a need to have many of them. But seeing someone as timid as Midoriya she couldn't help but feel drawn to him, he seemed like a genuine and earnest person and it was hard to find such honest traits like that in people nowadays.
"W-well I like Heroes." He trailed off, fidgeting with his hands that were now placed in his lap. "I watch a lot of them on T.V. and read stuff about them on the online forums."
"Ah, I bet you have a favorite Hero~" Umi sung, twirling one of her fingers through the air. "Let me guess…I bet its—"
"All Might!" The both of them shouted in unison.
"Eh do you like All Might to Umi-san?"
She waved him off, "Just call me Umi, and I don't really follow much stuff on Heroes but…he doesn't seem like a bad person I guess." Blue eyes fell half-lidded, she let out a sigh and took a sip of her drink.
"Of course! He's a hero after all." Midoriya stated proudly, and it was the first time during their whole conversation that she had seen him look so enthusiastic over something.
"You must look up to him a lot then." She murmured, fiddling with the crumpled wrappers of one of her discarded hamburgers.
With a renewed confidence he dug into his food, and Umi couldn't help the smile that touched her lips at the sight of a few stray sesame seeds on his face. Plopping a fry into his mouth he nodded, "I watched him a lot growing up, ever since I was little I can remember wanting to be like him when I got older."
"As the Number one hero I can see why people would think that way about him." Umi shoved a slice of pickle in her mouth, she had never been one to follow much on heroes for obvious reasons, and they had never been a particular interest for her. "So since you like heroes so much do you wanna be one then?"
Midoriya flinched at her question, Umi blinked curiously at his reaction, and she wondered if she'd accidently stepped over a line. He pushed his tray of finished food to the side, resting his hands on the table he sighed. "I do but it'd be kinda hard for someone like me."
"I doubt it, you seem like a nice guy Midori-chan." Umi flicked the wrapper of her straw across the table, watching as it bounced over the tray and landed on the floor.
"My quirk I-it's not really suited for fighting so—"
"I think any quirk could be useful in becoming a hero as long as you know how to use it right." Off to the right Umi's phone went off again, the red light blinking at the top and the girl let out a sigh before reaching over to turn off notifications. "Who cares if you don't have a combat based quirk, I bet there's tons of heroes out there who make it in the business without one."
"Y-you really think so?" Midoriya shuffled in his seat, green eyes shining with something akin to disbelief and maybe hope.
"Yep, I think a quirk is only as good as its wielder. Just because you have a strong one doesn't mean anything if you can't use it right." Leaning over the table she ruffled his green locks, blue eyes soft like the gentlest of ocean waves. "So have a little confidence in yourself."
"I—thank you Umi." The corners of his lips quirked upwards into a blinding smile, one that had his eyes falling shut, and Umi resisted the urge to clutch at her chest from how Midoriya practically radiated sunshine.
The sudden sound of a ringtone had Umi jumping back into the booth, she glanced traitorously at her own phone only to pause when Midoriya uttered a quick apology under his breath, reaching into his bag for his own phone.
"Hey mom." He answered, and Umi settled her attention back towards her food where she unwrapped another burger and shoved it into her mouth. "Ah I didn't realize it was so late, yeah, oh I went out to dinner with a friend…"
Umi felt something settle in her stomach, gripping the burger a little tighter she shoved it even further into her mouth until the entire thing was practically pushed inside, her cheeks rounded out like that of a chipmunk.
"Yeah, I'm heading home now then. I'll see you soon!" With that he hung up, and when Midoriya looked up at Umi he couldn't help but laugh, his shoulders shaking from the force and the girl merely waggled her brows at him.
Swallowing she winced as it roughly slid down her throat, desperately she reached for her drink and gulped down the remnants of the vanilla shake. "Gotta go?"
"Yeah, mom's getting worried because it's getting so late." Midoriya made way to stand, hauling his backpack over his shoulders he then went to take his tray to the trashcan in the corner. When he returned he awkwardly shuffled on his feet, "Um—thank you for buying dinner Umi it was really nice to meet you."
"No problem." Umi watched how he looked back and forth at the door and their booth, as though he wanted to say something else. With a sigh he finally turned away, shoulders slumped slightly, but before he could even take two steps she called out to stop him. "We should exchange numbers Midori-chan, it was really fun talking to you."
Midoriya paused and held out his phone, shyly he scratched at his cheek "I wanted to ask you that but I wasn't certain if you'd want to…"
"Mmm, I don't have many friends so I'm kinda glad we got to meet." Umi swiftly entered her contact name, setting it as Umi-chan with a series of emoticons that followed after. "Just text me whenever so I can get your number." She handed him back his phone, and Midoriya stared down at it in disbelief.
He felt strange now that he befriended someone new, it had been awhile since Midoriya had anyone to call friend. A warm feeling spread through his chest, and he couldn't help but smile at the girl seated before him. "Alright, I'll see you later then Umi!"
With a nod he bounded towards the door, blue eyes watched him go and she let out a snort when he stopped beside the glass to wave a few times more before hurrying down the crosswalk across the street.
Once she was sure he was gone Umi slumped against the seat, tapping a finger on the table she glanced to her phone and with a heavy sigh she tapped at the blinking message icon.
It was time to get to work.
Even through the cover of night Umi could easily make out the familiar broad shoulders of the man in front of her, shoving her hands into her pockets she kept her footsteps as silent as she could.
Rushing forward she allowed her shoulder to roughly bump into his, and the man let out a curse, lashing out he gripped her jacket by the arm. "Hey kid, watch where you're going-" Recognition flickered across his face, and he snarled. "You're that little shit who spilled their drink all over me."
"Oh man what a coincidence." Umi laughed feigning innocence, eyes darkening. "You should really watch where you're going mister."
He scoffed, "You're lucky that pipsqueak came to help you out earlier." Rocks began to curve beneath his skin, rising up his hands down to his wrists. "There's no one to save you now girlie."
"Contrary to belief I never needed saving to begin with." Umi took a step back, and rocked back onto the heels of her feet. "I figured I should get back at you for ruining my drink."
"Annoying little shits like you really need to learn when to shut your mouths!" The man barreled forward, jutting his fist forward chips of rock flaked off, ricocheting through the air.
A wide grin spread across her lips, leaping to the side Umi charged, reaching into her pocket she pulled out the stun gun she always made point to carry. Anger flashed across the man's face, and he swung his fists pelting the air with shards upon shards of jagged rock.
Blue eyes widened in surprise, Umi hopped back letting out a curse when several shards slammed into her arms, one catching the side of her cheek. She could already feel the bruises beginning to form, followed by the cool trickle of blood down her face, wincing Umi felt her legs give out when another wave shot forward, this time the rocks pelting her with everything they had.
Heavy footsteps thudded before her, a sharp kick landed itself on her stomach and Umi let out a grunt as her body was shoved to the ground, the Taser in her hand tossed off to the side forgotten.
"This has to be the saddest shit I've seen all day." The man pressed his foot harder into Umi's stomach, his grin turning cruel when the girl let out a whimper of pain the more he shoved into her tender ribs. "I don't believe in hitting girls, but with a mouth like that you were practically asking for it."
A wheeze of laughter left her lips, reaching up with shaky hands she gripped tightly at his boot. "Don't…guard…down." She whispered, and the man narrowed his eyes, leaning forward he leered down at the girl.
"What was that? Crying for mommy already?" He jeered, delivering another stomp to her stomach. "Maybe you can call the pipsqueak again to save you." He laughed, an ugly guttural noise.
"I said," Umi growled through gritted teeth, "Didn't anybody ever teach you to never let your guard down?"
"What are you—"
A tendril of water shot out like a whip before the man could even finish, curling around his limbs it pulled him backwards onto his knees. Umi let out a huff of relief, body curling in on itself now that she was free from the thundering buffoon behind her.
Rolling onto her side she slowly brought herself upright, holding a hand to her ribs, she raised the other and curled her fingers into a fist. The torrent of water curled tighter around his body, a stream of it rearing up to wrap around his throat cutting off his airflow.
"I don't like using my quirk if I don't have to." Umi wheezed, and she slowly sauntered over to where the man was kneeling, veins popping out from his face and skin turning red from the lack of air to his lungs. He opened his mouth to speak but she roughly brought her fist against the side of cheek, "But you're surprisingly a lot tougher than the other's I've fought in the last few months, it's a good thing I managed to catch you alone."
His eyes rolled up into the back of his head, mouth wide open and tongue lolling out and Umi released her fist, the water around the man dissipating into a sheen of vapor into the night air. She caught him by the collar of his tee before he fell to the ground, pressing a finger to the side of his neck she checked for a pulse and sighed in relief when she found the gentle thrum of life.
Pulling out her phone she hurriedly called one of her contacts, a deep voice answered from the other line and Umi let out whiny sigh. "I've got one to bring back for Sensei, Kuro-chan can you open a warp for me?" Without another word the line hung up, and Umi stared scandalously at her phone in mock hurt.
How rude.
Within moments however a black warp opened beside her, pulling the unconscious man by his collar she roughly threw him inside, taking one last cautious glance at her surroundings she gleefully hopped in once she was sure the cost was clear.
Umi's feet touched the bare wood floors of the building, low lights hung overhead casting the room in a warm glow, propping the man off to the side she turned towards the bar at the front.
"Where the hell have you been?" A rough voice broke the silence, and before Umi could even so much as open her mouth a bottle of alcohol was flung through the air towards her.
Umi laughed weakly, holding a hand up she caught the bottle by its lid, holding it up she watched as a thick layer of frost spread across the glass. Her eyes found those of searing crimson, and a twisted grin touched her lips, raising the bottle she crushed it between her fingers, chips of ice scattering to the floor like diamond dust.
"Boy, do I have a story for you Tomura-chan."
First chapter done woo-hoo, I really do hope the story flowed well and wasn't confusing. The idea of writing from the villains side has always been pretty interesting to me since we don't get to see a whole lot of things going on from their P.O.V., not to mention I think a lot of them are very complex characters so I look forward to writing them in the future!
I'm not sure when the next chapter will be up, but I will try to get it up within the next couple of weeks. Don't be afraid to send me some comments and feedback, they help feed my poor writers soul haha...anyways thank you for reading.
Until next time!
