Prompt #110 (Item) Blanket

Veronica sighed as she turned onto her side her eyes barely open. Her hands reached for the end of the blanket to bring it back up against her shoulders once more; only her fingers came up empty. Her eyes drifted a little wider as her brain began to slowly wake her up. A small smirk made it's way onto her lips at the sight next to her. Betty had the blanket tightly wrapped around her. It seemed even in her sleep Betty knew how to tuck her somewhat cold body in the blanket's warmth. She silently watched her best friend sleep for a few moments until the cool breeze hit her once more. She hated to have to wake Betty … even for a little bit. But she needed the blanket also. She scooted closer against the blonde; and raised her head so she could rest it against the blonde's neck. "Betty." She softly spoke in the blonde's ear as her right hand gently shook the blonde's shoulder.

Betty remained still in her sleep.

"Sorry B." Veronica winced as she raised her hand from the blonde's shoulder and allowed her cold fingers to rest against the warm cheek.

Betty's eyes came to together.

"Betty time to wake up." Veronica spoke in a calm quite low voice. Just enough to slightly wake the blonde up; but not allowing Betty's brain to start clicking quite yet. "Come on B I really need your help here." She kept talking.

"Five more minutes." Betty moaned as she tugged the blanket more tighter aginst her neck.

Veronica rolled her eyes. "Betty you blanket hog I need some of the blanket now." She spoke in a bemused low voice.

Betty's just leaned back against her. "Not what I had in mind B." Veronica sighed. "Come on girl I need you to share that blanket warmth with me."

"Mmm … I don't want to wake up." Betty's husky voice spoke. Her eyes slowly blinked. Her head twisted and she met the calm eyes of Veronica. "Ronnie?"

"Hey now B I don't want you to start to wake up right now. But I need some of the blanket." Veronica smoothly spoke.

Betty looked confused. Then her eyes drifted downward and found Veronica's in just her nightgrown and shaking. "Oh Veronica, I'm sorry." She rolled over and tried to get out of the burrito that she had managed to get herself in. Her anxiety rising.

Veronica managed to get the blanket open and pulled it over her. She scooted closer into Betty. Betty had turned onto her rightside; so her back was firmly into Veronica's front. Veronica wrapped her left arm around Betty's stomach; and her hand slowly massaged the tense muscle. Her right hand was still resting against Betty's cheek. "Hey now B calm down. This isn't something to get upset about okay? From time to time a sleeping body needs more warmth from the covers ….. and forgets that they are sharing shed covers with someone else." Veronica soothing spoke in Betty's ear. "Please drift back to sleep B. We still have a good six hours before we need to get up. Lets allow our bodies to get the sleep that they deserve."

"Perhaps I won't steal warmth from you Veronica if the next time we have a cold night like this; we hold each other like this." Betty sleeply said as her hands rose to rest against Veronica's on her stomach.

Heat filled Veronica's body. "Speak like this some more B and I won't need any covers." Her eyes drifted down and she found Betty sound asleep once more. "I'm going to hold you to this B." She whispered against the blonde's skin. Her eyes drifted close. "You have no idea how much I want to hold you all night like this …. not just on cold nights. But every night." Her breath started to even out. "If only if you will let me."

Betty sighed as she pulled Veronica a little tighter to her. She felt Veronica's even breath against her skin. "I want to." She whispered as she finally drifted back to sleep.
