Rule #1: Daddy/Daughter time should always be spontaneous, yet sweet.

Clary POV

How in the world did my mother ever keep up with laundry? Ever since Arriane was born it feels like some kind of laundry flood gates opened. How one tiny little 6 month old baby can wear so many clothes during the day is BEYOND me.

Sighing, I hauled the laundry basket onto my hip and stomped down the hall to put it all away. Ari's room was first so I started placing all the little onesies, socks, dresses and pants into the large oak dresser that stood against one wall. I couldn't help but smile though at this chore. It was unbelievable to think that she was already 6 months old. Glancing up, the clock on the wall read 12:38 pm. I bet Ari will be up soon. She's always hungry around 1, and I just put her down too..oh well.

With a small grin still on my face I pattered across the hall with a much lighter basket and stopped right before mine and Jace's room. I was about to open the door when I heard my husband's soft voice coming from inside and I felt my eyebrows raise slightly. I thought he was out hunting with Alec and Izzy till 3? Another thought instantly made my lips press tightly together. I swear, if he woke Ari up after I just put her down for a nap I am gonna...

Cracking the door slightly I peer inside and my heart instantly melted. Jace was laying on his back on our bed, his long legs dangling off one side. I was slightly suprised to see him shirtless, his hair a damp halo of light blonde curls. I guess he had taken a shower. I watched as he lifted our daughter up in the air, making what sounded like airplane sounds. "It's super-Ari." He said, smiling that smile that absolutely lit up his face. She gave a soft baby giggle and I broke into a smile myself. Jace sat up, bringing the infant to his chest and hugging her tightly. He kissed her hair as she yawned, her little lips becoming a pink O. "Daddy loves you." He whispered. "He loves you so much. I'll always be here to protect you."

Tears welling in my eyes I watched this man, one of the best, strongest shadowhunters that had a tongue sharper than a two edged dagger and more than a broken childhood, cradle his child close and carefully stood. He rubbed her small back as he walked around the room, humming tunelessly under his breath. After a few moments he walked over to the playpen I'd set up in the corner and gently settled a now sleeping Ari into it, making sure to place her pink silky-plush blanket over her before straightening up.

He took a deep breath, taking one more glance at Ari before retreating to our bed and stretching out. Within a few moments his breathing had even out and he was sound asleep. Grinning, I gently closed the door on my sleeping family.

Laundry could wait a while.

Short, sweet and brings the best out in all Daddies.

Clary: Even Jace :)

Jace: Hey...I'm always the best!

Clary: *pats his hand* You keep telling yourself that babe.
