I watched this movie and I loved it. I loved Holmes, I loved Watson, I even loved Irene Adler (because Gawd, that woman is the smex). So naturally I decided to write this. It's short and that I regret but I fear if I write more, it'll just get worse. Enjoy, read and review.
Neither had spoken a word since they had thrown Holmes in the bed. Irene is a dutiful nursemaid, mopping his brow tenderly, but it only sends Watson into a silent rage. Holmes cares for this woman. As a rival, as a friend, as a . . .
John turns his head. He feels ridiculous. He's. . .jealous. It hits him like a lead weight, making him pause. Jealous? What right does he have? He's getting married; Holmes is his own man and he can do whatever he damn well pleases with whomever he pleases. It doesn't loosen the knot in his chest though.
"Are you alright, Watson? Is it your arm?" Irene looks concerned, but right now Watson is so perturbed by her presence and just now discovering that his affection for Holmes might not be strictly platonic.
"You're fond of him." Irene doesn't say anything, but she looks guilty; Watson clears his throat and stares at the floor. "And yet you betray him constantly. You trick him and abuse him and it just attracts him in. I don't understand it."
"Whatever I've done to him isn't nearly as terrible as what you're doing to him." And it's her voice, choked and delicate, that makes him look up again. "You know he cares for you more than he could ever care for me. You are his stability; if he could have switched places with you in that explosion, he would have done so in a heartbeat because you're his world, John. And you're abandoning him."
"That's not true." But it is. All Watson's talked about is getting married and leaving Holmes to do the business on his own. Is it so hard for his friend?
"He loves you, you know." Irene's gazing at the detective now sadly. "Some of us would give anything for that."
And almost as if he can sense the tension, Holmes jolts awake as if from a nightmare.
Whatever feelings the three has, whether Irene was telling the truth or not, it will have to wait.
Oh btw, hated Mary. Don't know why. I just did. Only character I absolutely hated. ANYWAY, Read and review please.
