(Yay, finally my great return to writing begins with this little ficlet :) It's not amazing but just you wait…more to come! Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who (because if I did Matt Smith would be staying!) Enjoy!)
Meteor Shower
"Have you ever seen a meteor shower before, Clara?" The Doctor asked the brunette who was currently standing by the TARDIS doors she had just entered.
She crossed her arms, humming absent mindedly as she thought about her answer. Clara searched her memory and then replied with a smile, "Yeah of course. Saw one when I was little, with my mum actually. Looked like a bunch of shooting stars falling to earth all at once," she had a wistful look on her face as she remembered the event, "like a billion wishes just being poured out on earth." Clara smiled softly, "My mum said it was the best day to make wishes." She laughed, "I think I just wished for something silly. I would ask my mum what she wished for and she would laugh and say, 'I already have all I could wish for.'"
The Doctor watched Clara share this tender moment with him without saying a word. He smiled gently as she told the story about her mum. They had been very close, her mum and her. It was a shame she had left this world so soon. Too soon.
"Why do you ask?" Clara wondered what the Time Lord could be up to as she walked towards the TARDIS control console.
"Well, you may have seen an Earth meteor shower, from Earth, all tiny and small, but you haven't seen a meteor shower till you've seen one from space on Rommelo 5!" he started moving his hands in large pointless gestures to express himself, "Very scenic, honeymoon location in fact, also made the top 100 sights of the galaxy in 4032, which is quite an achievement. Of course the TARDIS made that list as well…" he smiled yet then it faltered as he muttered, "so much for being inconspicuous."
The Doctor flipped a lever and pulled some knobs, making his way around the TARDIS console in a quick manner. Clara followed him as he made his way around, keeping him in view. She stopped short though as a perplexed exchange crossed her features, "A meteor shower from space?"
"Yes, from space."
"Just floating, in the TARDIS, in space?"
He waved a hand, dismissing the question, "Yes, yes!"
"But wouldn't that be dangerous?" Clara crossed her arms.
"No, perfectly safe!" The Doctor shook his head and used his hands to illustrate, "Air stays in the TARDIS even with the doors opened, you know that!"
"Doctor, I meant-"
There was a loud crashing sound and the TARDIS rumbled, tilting slightly to the side. Clara yelped and grabbed ahold of the nearby railing as she stumbled backward.
The Doctor held on to the TARDIS console looking perplexed, "Well, that's not supposed to-"
Another loud crash interrupted him.
"Doctor! What I meant was, wouldn't it be dangerous to be in space-" BANG! "during a meteor shower?!"
"No! Perfectly safe from a distance!"
….
"Oh." The Doctor looked at his view screen as warning bells charmed. "Good news, we found the meteor shower. Bad news-" there was a crash and sparks flew from the console. "We found the meteor shower."
" Doctor!"
"Hold on just a tick, will be out of here in a jiffy." The Doctor started frantically flipping switches and pushing buttons on the console.
Clara gave the Doctor a look, "Next time you want to impress me…use your brain."
"Oi, shut up."
Thanks for Reading! :)
