My Crazy Adventures With the RENT Gang

Summary: Parody. Idea stolen from RentFreak. The gang hangs with me for a day or so.

Disclaimer: RENT People: not mine; School and OC: Almost all real; Me: mine. I'm "Katie," given that it's my name. School name is 'Com-Creek,' and I made that up.

Thank you, Jonathan Larson

The large school but drove down the dark street. Katie looked out the window in horror. Her bus had come already! She was going to be late for school!

In a mad rush, she stuffed a muffin into her mouth and picked up her book, sprinting out the door. Chasing the bus was crazy for her, but it soon stopped in the middle of the street. Thankfully, she came up to the door.

The door opened, but her normal driver was missing. Where was Helen, and who was this brightly-colored woman in her place? She ignored the substitute, and climbed up the stairs. Walking down the isle, she was stunned to see the bus practically empty. Where were the dozens of obnoxious middle-schoolers? And why where the only passengers adults?

Ignoring this change, too, she took a seat next to a cute strawberry blonde holding a camera. The Latina sitting in front of her smiled, and shouted, "Haha, I get a seat all to myself!"

"Mimi," a rocker sighed, eyeing a black man sitting next to him, "don't gloat."

Katie thought for a moment. Mimi? Why was that so familiar? She had an epiphany. "Angel!" she shouted.

The driver slammed her large wedge onto the break, making the bus halt.

"Yeah, honey," she called back.

"I knew it!" Katie shouted, standing. "But," she said, thinking, "why are you driving a bus?"

Angel looked down at her position, and then back to the people in the seats. "I don't know," she said, "I thought that we were on the subway."

"In New York City," Collins added, looking out the window, "where are we?"

"Michigan," Katie laughed, watching the disappointed look on Joanne's face.

"My great aunt lives here," the lawyer said, "and she keeps trying to 'hook me up' with her neighbor's son." Maureen laughed, kissing her lover's cheek.

"Then let's visit her!" the drama queen laughed.

"No," Joanne said sternly.

After a moment of sitting in the bus, Katie looked up. "I have to go to school," she told them.

"Oh," Roger sighed, "I hated school."

"I think that you'll like it," Katie told him, "in the cafeteria, there's a small stage with an open mike. You could play your guitar."

"Yeah!" he agreed, picking up a guitar from the seat beside him.

Katie turned to Mark. "We have a video studio, too, for out video news," she told him.

"I'm in!" Maureen shouted.

"Alright!" Angel said, putting the bus into gear, "let's go!"

The giant yellow school bus lurched forward in the direction of Com-Creek High School.
