I feel guilty about not updating, but I do have an excuse. My mom wouldn't let me on my laptop because of all the testing going on. (I would much rather update than study, believe me.)
And the quote was "real or not real," so anyone who got that gets the cookie! *passes them out*

He was my faithful servant. And I was his lovely, perfect, awesome, kick-butt mistress. Not to mention lover. And the things going on between us, well, let's just say the only word that would work would be scandalous.
"Everything seems to be a scandal these days," I remarked to my hand-servant, Iggy, who was currently tending to the fire. "I just can't go a few feet without being accused of 'falling-out' with you. Which is true, of course," I chuckled dryly. "but I can't say that, now can I?"
"Of course not, fair mistress," he murmured and shifted some of the coal in the fire. I moved positions on the backless couch I was on and waved my hand nonchalantly.
"As I've said before, we're not in public. Please, do address me as Max," I said. "I need your humor now, more than ever. Come, take a seat." I patted the chair next to me and motioned for him to sit down.
"As you wish, Maxie," he grinned goofily and stopped tending to the fire. "If you're sure no one's listening, we can act like ourselves."
I grinned, matching his. "No one's listening, I had a mage soundproof this room and my chambers. If that worked, no one can hear us, but we can hear anyone in the corridor. It better work, since I paid that mage handsomely..."
He chuckled and reclined back on his chair. "If anyone messes with my Max, well," he wagged a finger at the door. "You can take care of them, but I expect to help."
I nodded solemnly. "Now, we have some matters to talk about. Lord Fang, for example."
I saw understanding in Iggy's eyes. "So is he trying to figure out where you go when he's not here?"
"Yes," I nodded grimly. "He has servants who's main purpose is to spy on me. I think he suspects that I am with another man, why, the other day, he suggested that I had taking a liking to the king! A married man, I'd say, I'm not that scandalous." I raised my eyebrows. "But loving you comes pretty close to scandal. We cannot let him figure it out."
Iggy brought my hand to his lips and kissed it softly. "As long as I am your faithful servant, I vow never to let him hurt you," he said it with such seriousness that I thought he was joking, but his eyes told me otherwise.
I rested my head on his shoulder. "But what am I to do? I don't now if I can put with 'Lord' Fang anymore. He's not even a true lord, he told me himself! I mean, I suspected he wasn't, but-"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, TELLING A SERVANT MY SECRET?" A thunderous voice boom and the door slammed open to reveal a red-faced, angry, Lord Fang. "And yes, I heard everything." He added coldly, arms crossed.
My heart literally stopped as I took my head off of Iggy's shoulder and my hand clutched his for protection. The only thing I could say then was, "Damn mage."
