A girl with her purple umbrella was taking her walk with a really-big white dog when she encountered a young man stood in front of a tombstone in a local funeral, alone by himself.
She closed her umbrella. After letting the dog whose name is Sadaharu #27 having his fun with another dog they meet, Kagura came to the young man, then squatting next to him.
The man is named Okita Sougo.
"Not today, China."
The man said as if he is able to read Kagura's mind.
Kagura knew Sougo's not in the mood to fight with her by looking at his face and the aura that surrounding him.
She then looked at the tombstone that has been seized Sougo's focus. The tombstone has few flower bouquets surrounding it. She also take a look at a name that written on it.
Okita Mitsuba.
"... your mother?" she asked.
Sougo replied in a single shook.
"... She was my older sister."
"Hee, you have a family too. What's wrong with her?"
"Ill."
"Oh."
W-What should I do. He's not in his sadist mode. I feel awkward, Kagura thought as she's looking at Sougo.
"... today is one year exactly after her last breath."
...
...
... this is really awkward.
The girl doesn't know what to do. She's not a kind of person who is able to give him sweet or encouraging words. If she can do something with her condition right now, all she can do is...
"here."
Kagura hand over something thin that is moss green-colored to the young man.
Sougo stared at her in confuse.
"This is my favorite food, sukonbu."
He still confusedly looking at her, but he took the sukonbu anyway. After that, he looking back at the tombstone as he began to ate his sukonbu.
Instand he puke out the sukonbu.
"Oi! I gave you my favorite food and you replied with that?"
"Damn it, China. It's so bitter."
"My favorite flavor is indeed the bitter one."
"It's bitter!"
"Yeah it is."
"Bitter!"
"Yeah."
"It's so bitter."
"You're going to say that until you die? Just curious"
Sougo laughed a little. He took the sukonbu in Kagura's mouth and ate it. Even though it's bitter, even though Kagura was made pissed off.
"Then my job here is done," the girl said as she stand up and opened her umbrella then walking away from Sougo.
Her step is stopped a moment when Sougo said something to make her smile a bit.
"Thanks, China."
And she walks away as if nothing happened.
A while after that, the young man continue the eat to the last bite. As he said something, a tear streamed down his face.
It was bitter.
