(A/N: My second drabble. For the song-fic challenge, to write a piece inspired by a song. I of course already have some of those (Music of the Heart) but they were all too long. Enjoy)

How do I Get Through to You

"Harry," she called searching the dark corridors for a room he might have ducked inside. "Harry, where are you?"

She saw a foot print in dust just outside a slightly opened door. Sighing to herself she pushed the door open and stepped inside.

"Please go away," he said before she'd gotten her chance to speak.

"I can't do that."

"I don't want to talk about it, Ginny."

"You might not want to," she said stepping towards him slowly, "but you're going to have to sooner or later."

He turned away from her crossing to the farthest point of the room he could reach.

"Talk to me Harry. Believe it or not I'm the only person who can relate to what's happening to you, even if it is only a little"

"It's different." He huffed. He thought perhaps if he upset her or made her angry she'd leave him alone. He didn't want to hurt her, but it was sure to happen either way.

"I know," she tired not to let his harsh tone get to her, "but that's a good thing. Different is what you want, the same means he's possessed you."

"But he has," he shouted. "I did it, Ginny. I attacked your father. I saw the attack through the eyes of the snake. It's me that nearly killed him."

Ginny was almost in tears. Partly from being reminded of tonight's events and partly from Harry's obvious, but undeserved, guilt.

"No," she said stifling her tears. "No you didn't Harry. You saved him. You made it possible to get to him before something worse happened." She crossed towards him, but this time he let her come. "It's not your fault." She wrapped her arms around him.

When she felt him crying in her arms she allowed her own tears to fall. She wanted so badly to speak further, reassure him that all his fears were unfounded, let him know he could confide in her, trust her. Still, she did not speak. Harry's walls were still much too high. Harry had spent his entire life alone. He was accustomed to taking care of himself and keeping it all inside. If he confided in anyone it was Ron and Hermione, but even they had not been able to penetrate all of Harry's barriers. Foolishly Harry isolated himself from others and in an effort to protect people he cared about he had blocked chances at love and friendship and trust. Ginny loved him, much as she tired to get past it she couldn't let him go. She wanted so badly to tell him, let him know that there was someone who loved him above all else. It was the sort of thing he needed in a time like this, but his defenses were too great. She had merely cracked the surface tonight, given him a chance to release a small portion of what he had bottled up inside.

"Thank you," he said stepping back. He turned his head, as if to not let her see he was crying. "Thank you for understanding."

With that he was gone; off to find some other room in which to sit and sulk alone. She'd tried and failed, but not totally. Harry had let in close, if only for the briefest of moments. As silence surrounded her Ginny wondered if she would ever be able to get through to Harry and let him see just how much she loved him.

(Inspired by "How do I get through to you" by Dexter Freebish)

"You hide behind walls
From the one's that love you
The one you fear you might fall for
And it's hard to ignore
The error in your ways

How do I get through to you
How do I get through to you
That there's no one in this world
Who wants you more than I want you"
