An Encounter of a MySpace Kind

MySpace Encounter

Disclaimer: I own no one!

A/N- This actually happened to me, the whole meeting someone on MySpace and then accidentally bumping into him on campus. The only difference between what happened to me and this fic is that my friend's gay, so, yeah, no romance there. Enjoy!

Maria sighed, booting up her laptop. Another Saturday night and she was left alone with her computer. It made little sense. She was young. She was attractive. Where was the problem?

Most of her friends were out, with their significant others. She could try joining them, but somehow, that only made her lonelier and feel like a third wheel.

NEW MESSAGES! She read, logging onto MySpace. She hated to admit it but she was addicted to the site. No one knew if it was the real Maria, and that added to the fun.

Clicking on the link, she scanned the messages. Most of them were from fans wondering if she was the REAL Maria, but one message caught her eyes.

Maria,

I have no way of knowing if this is the real you. I hope it is though. You see I work with you and well, of all my coworkers; you are by far the prettiest.

Carlos

Carlos? Who the hell was Carlos? Why did the name sound familiar? It was probably a hoax. She didn't know anyone named Carlos, did she?

The only Carlos she could think of was incredibly arrogant. He loved only himself. It couldn't be him, could it? Maria sighed, scanning his page. An impersonator of the arrogant one. Why not play along? Who knew? Maybe she would make a friend.

I don't know who you are, but you seem intriguing. I'd love to continue talking to you. Ri

Lowering the laptop screen, she moved around the room. How was it possible that all her friends were out but she was alone?

Maria sighed, yawning. She was tired. She was cranky. All she wanted was a nice hot bubble bath. Of course, that could wait. She wanted to know if her mystery admirer would email her back.

Impatiently, she hit the reload button, once, twice. Soon, she had hit it a good twenty times. Just when she was about to shut down and take her bubble bath, she saw it.

NEW MESSAGES!

Grinning, she clicked the link. Would it be her mystery admirer?

Intriguing, never been called that before, but yes, I am intriguing. Hope to see you soon…

Shutting her laptop down, she wondered if this person was real. Was she getting her hopes up over a stupid teenager with nothing better to do than mess with her emotions? Why was she so desperate for love?

The air filled with the aroma of roses, the water running to fill the bathtub. She couldn't get that guy out of her mind. She knew she would probably never meet him. She knew more likely than not he was a poser.

"Maria, don't get your heart broken by someone you meet online." She thought, settling into her bath. "Don't get attached,"

As she soaked in the tub, she knew one thing.

It was easier said than done.
