Her steps were silent on the slick ground as she slowly approached the lonely girl.

"Hey." She said as she went to stand next to her.

"Hi." The lonely girl called back, still staring blankly out into the river.

"It's chilly tonight, huh?" The intruder asked with a slight smile.

"I guess."

"You don't know?"

"I've been numb for a few hours now, so yeah, I don't know." The girl said back with some bite, but the shadowed smile took out the sting. She giggled, liking this girl and her quick wit.

"What are you doing here?" She wondered, getting lost in the abyss that was swirling below.

"I was here first, what are you doing here?" The girl asked with a small pout.

"Well, you see, I was walking down the road here when I look out to see this beautiful angel standing up on the railing. She was looking out into the sky, lost and alone. I think she just really wanted to go home. To take flight and leave all this behind. But, the poor sweet thing, her wings are broken. If she tried to jump, she would only fall back down to the world that she hates. She looked just so sad that I had to..." She stopped, not knowing what she had to do.

The girl shook her head.

"I'm no angel, just human with a tainted soul. Just an empty girl in a world who doesn't want her"

"Lies and slander!" She shouted, startling her angel. "You're not tainted, just a little dirty. Nothing some love and care can't wash away. And," She paused, looking into the wide eyes that stared back at her. "I want you."

The girl stood still, shocked.

"You want me? You don't even know me!" The 'angel' yelled, angry that she, this complete stranger, would try and tell her this. "No one wants me, no one! Not my family, not my so called friends, not my school, no one. Who are you to be different?"

She simply smiled, eyes bright with adoration and love. "My name's Ashley and I want you. I love you. Please, sweet angel, don't jump. Don't leave me." She begged the girl.

"Spencer. My name is Spencer, not Angel." Spencer sighed, opening her arms to allow Ashley in. Ashley walked into her arms, happy to be in Spencer's warmth.

"Come on, Spencer, let's go home."
