***********
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair
***********
When Tara left, it hurt Beast Boy. And only until Raven ran away for a week had he known, that watching him hurt was excruciatingly painful for her. When she came back, she was ready to talk to the other titans, and be there for Beast Boy.
*********** She acts like summer and walks like rain Reminds me that there's time to change Since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June. ***********
Beast Boy was sleeping lightly in an armchair. Raven watched him expressionlessly from the parallel sofa. To her relief, he wasn't snoring, to her wonder he wasn't tossing and turning. To her worry he remained stationary... and to her sadness, tears slid down his face and clung to his lashes. Raven propped her bare feet up on the coffee table and began to read a large paper back book entitled The End of Things to Come. Beast Boy stirred in his battered chair and opened his tired eyes. "Raven! You're back! You came back!" He cried happily.
*********** Tell me, did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated ***********
"Do the others know you're back? We've been so worried." Beast Boy rambled on. "Stop, Beast Boy. When I was gone, I realized that I was being selfish and that you need support right now since Terra left... How long has it been since you got a decent nights sleep? You look awful." Raven stated in her monotone, setting down her book. Beast Boy slouched over to the couch and collapsed next to her. "If today is Saturday then the last time I stayed sleeping was... umm... Monday." He yawned. "Terra meant that much to you, didn't she?" Raven bit her lip and glanced at him.
*********** But tell me, did you fall from a shooting star One without a permanent scar And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there ***********
"Nah." Beast Boy waved his hand as if pushing away the idea. "But you do." He set a lopsided grin across his face. It was at this moment he realized how little space there was between them, and that his fingers were now intertwined with hers. Beast Boy got a bit nervous. 'Take your hand off hers,' he thought to himself, 'hurry before she blows your stupid green head off.' "It's fine Beast Boy." Raven said. Her hood fell back and the lights reflected off her violet hair. "Oh... uh... right." Beast Boy giggled nervously. He eased up a bit. "I'm really glad you're back."
*********** Now that she's back from that soul vacation Tracing her way through the constellation She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-bo Reminds me that there's room to grow ***********
Tears flowed steadily from Beast Boy's sad green eyes. Raven bit her lip in a failed attempt to keep her own tears in. "Please stop crying. I don't want you to cry anymore." Raven sobbed. "It's just that when you were gone for so long... I... I thought something... horrible happened to you. I was just so scared. I never want you to leave again." Beast Boy cried.
*********** Now that she's back in the atmosphere I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain old Jane Told a story about a man who was too afraid to fly So he never did land ***********
Raven cried uncontrollably. Sixteen years of sadness erupted from her. "I'm never going to leave you again." She promised as they held each other in a warm embrace.
*********** But tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back to the Milky Way And tell me did Venus blow your mind Was it everything you wanted to find And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there ***********
"Look at us." Beast Boy laughed. "We're worn out." Raven chuckled. "Yeah, that's sixteen years of sadness, bottled up, shaken around, then let loose. I could really use for a goodnight sleep." She rubbed her eyes. Beast Boy nodded in agreement. "I could sleep through a bomb right now." He yawned and stretched out on the large couch. "I'll see you in the morning. Good night, Beast Boy." Raven said, getting up to go to her room. "No, stay here with me tonight." Beast Boy grabbed her wrist. Raven looked at him only to see that he was being quite serious.
*********** Can you imagine no love, pride, deep fried chicken Your best friend always sticking up for you Even when I know you're wrong Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance, five hour phone conversation The best soy latte that you ever had... and me ***********
"Where am I going to lay?" Raven smirked. Beast Boy put on a boyish grin and grabbed her waist. "Right here," He answered pulling her down next to him. She lay back against his chest and rested the side of her face against his neck. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He felt like he could sleep like this forever.
*********** They tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day And head back toward the Milky Way ***********
The sunlight flooded through the tower, and the titans filed sleepily into the living room. "Wow, Beast Boy is usually the first one up. He will be so excited when he finds that Raven has returned." Starfire yawned, and Robin put an arm on her shoulder to get her attention. "I think he already has." He grinned as he pointed to their two sleeping friends. Cyborg crossed his arms and smiled, "At least he's getting some sleep. He was so out of it." Starfire clapped her hands together happily. "Oh! But look! Raven was crying! So was Beast Boy, but why? They look so peaceful and happy." He eyes softened as she examined her friends' tear streaked faces. "We can only wonder, Star." Robin shook his head in puzzlement. Beast Boy stretched, yawned, and pried open his eyes reluctantly waking Raven. His turquoise eyes gazed into her metallic blue ones.
*********** Tell me, did you sail across the sun Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded And that heaven is overrated ***********
Beast Boy saw the other titans standing in front of him. He blushed furiously. "Uh... h... hey guys! ... Raven's back!" He grinned awkwardly. "Listen BB... Raven... we're out of here in three minutes for some grocery shopping. We were just leaving... Weren't we Robin?" Cyborg elbowed Robin in the chest. The boy gasped for breath and nodded his head in agreement. "So you're staying with us forever?" Beast Boy asked Raven, stroking her hair absentmindedly. "Let's just say a little animal renewed my hope," She laughed. Beast Boy stretched his arms out wide. "And that little animal is always open for hugs." His grin broadened. Raven chuckled and hugged him tightly. "He's open for kisses, too." His expression softened and he gazed intently at her. Raven closed her eyes and took a big breath. She was nervous, but all together curious. She carefully pressed her lips into his, but relaxed as he stroked the side of her face with his hand. "It's good to have you home," Beast Boy whispered, the tips of their noses still touching. "It's good to be home." Raven replied before they got lost in another kiss.
