Slowly, Austria watched as she tore down the barbed wire fences and finally things seemed to look up for them after their divorce.
Elizabeta ran into his arms, all scratched up from the barbed wire.
"I missed you." There were tears in her eyes, but both of them would ignore that fact.
"I did too." Roderich could not say the words that burnt at his throat, but thankfully she understood them without the three words needing to be spoken.
"I hope that I never have to put up another fence between us." Hungary told Roderich, determinedly.
"I hope so too." He murmured as he held her closer, and they left the area for Roderich to treat her wounds and for their first real talk since the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Talk would be light at one moment and deep at another; they couldn't help but try to catch up with each other or how natural it felt to be beside the other again.
