Late Night Messages
A short Puckleberry one-shot, post 2x10 with slight spoilers. Enjoy! I Don't own Glee, if I did, Mark Salling would be for my eyes only :)
Rachel Berry was sure of three things:
She was destined to be a star.
She was more talented than anyone at WMHS.
She would be with a man who understood her and accepted her just as she was.
She thought she had found a guy that fit the qualifications of the third statement, however due to recent events Rachel sat in her bed after an early Christmas party at Mr. Schuester's house waiting for a Goodnight text from Finn Hudson that would never arrive.
She had made a mistake, she thought it was minor, but obviously Finn thought otherwise. Nothing compared to Finn sleeping with Santana, but due to a slight technicality of the term "break," Finn was devastated and Rachel was heart broken.
A few attempts to mend their relationships had failed and Rachel was left alone. A quick glance and smile from Finn at Mr. Shue's party was promising, but Finn chose to spend the evening at Santana's side.
Rachel laid in her canopy bed, staring at the collage of Broadway stars above her head that she constructed when she was twelve. Reminding herself that she was going to be out of Lima one day and that she would find a guy ten times better than Finn brought a lone tear to her eye. All she wanted is that security blanket that made her feel wanted in a world of "haters," who put her down because she was self-confident.
At 10:37 pm Rachel heard the sound of her cell phone vibrate on her night stand. A smile immediately took over her face when she reached for it, hoping that it was who she desperately wanted now. When she looked at the small digital screen, her smile faded almost as quickly as it had formed.
1 Unread Message (Noah)
Rachel reluctantly opened her phone to read the message from Noah.
Noah: Herd wat happnd sry bout Finn. Hope u r ok.
Unsure of how to reply, Rachel stared at the message for a moment before beginning to type back.
Rachel: Thank you for your concern Noah, I will be fine.
She hit the send button, closed the phone and placed it on the nightstand. Just one more disappointment before she fell asleep for the night. However, before she had the chance to fall into her slumber, the phone vibrated again.
Noah: Finns a douch. U desrve better. Dont cry 4evr pls.
This text messages seemed horribly unlike Noah, however Rachel chose to reply yet again.
Rachel: Thank you Noah.
Hoping to end the conversation that just filled her mind with memories of Finn, Rachel tried to fall asleep, but in what seemed like record time her phone was buzzing again.
Noah: Happy Hanukkah Rach.
A small smile crept on Rachel's lips before she typed her response.
Rachel: Happy Hanukkah Noah.
