DISCLAIMER: WISH I OWNED
Things were NOT going well for Dumbledore. He stared in disbelief at his destroyed office; this was the THIRD time today.
It had been relatively easy to pick four of the five hostages for the second task. Fleur Delacoeur's younger sister Gabrielle, Viktor Krum's date Hermione Granger, Cedric Diggory's date/girlfriend Cho Chang, and Harry Potter's best friend Ron Weasley.
Picking Allen Walker's hostage was proving to be difficult. They had suggested Lenalee Li, who he had gone to the Ball with. Komui Li, her headmaster and older brother had thrown a fit and proceeded to tear apart Dumbledore's office, even (somehow) calling some giant robot that helped. His assistant/Deputy had yelled at him, and Lenalee had miraculously arrived to threaten to elope/run away/not make coffee anymore and destroy the robot.
Lenalee Li was NOT an option.
Reever substituted for Komui (who was groveling for his sister's forgiveness).
There was Yuu Kanda, Allen Walker's 'rival', and Lavi Bookman, the best friend.
They decided on the latter.
Then that man had shown up. He had smiled brightly at them before proceeding to use butterflies to further destroy Dumbledore's office. He had then informed Reever that he would be 'bothering' Lavi and to not worry about the 'rabbit's' health in any matter, he just wanted to 'eat' him, and that he was sure that Lavi would recover quite quickly from their 'games'.
These days, children played such interesting games, Dumbledore decided. It was so peculiar the types of people that a teenager befriended (especially since Lavi appeared to be unlike a delinquent).
Reever had been no good for the next twenty minutes, mumbling about the 'Noah'.
By process of elimination, they decided upon Yuu Kanda. Upon being informed of the 'honor' being bestowed on him, Yuu Kanda reached to the sword hanging at his hip. Stunners proved to have no effect on him, and Dumbledore doubted that if everything he cut apart would be fixed (and he had a feeling that the damage to the walls would be permanent).
Yuu Kanda proved to be the first of all hostages (potential or not) to be able to save himself without needing assistance.
And then, one of the group making the selection suggested another potential hostage. One who, due to his 'close' relationship with the said-Champion, would be the perfect hostage.
"What's going on?" Lenalee asked worriedly "Lavi, Hermione is at the bottom of the lake!"
Lavi, sitting next to her a bit gingerly (for some reason he was sitting on a pillow) choked "that's GENERAL CROSS!" he said.
"You're right" Lenalee agreed, nodding her head firmly.
"Attention please" Dumbledore said "the Champions will now enter the water to rescue their hostages. Please do so within the time limit. If they do not, their hostage will be 'lost forever'" upon hearing that Komui sobbed heart-brokenly, calling out his sister's name (who ignored him).
Everyone watched avidly as three of the Champions seamlessly dived into the water and one jumped. Allen Walker, meanwhile, looked calmly at his 'hostage' and turned around and walked away.
Everyone read the next day in the Daily Prophet where Allen was claimed to have quoted that he had no problem with his hostage dying, before proceeding to flee for his life as his ex-hostage chased him, hammer in one hand and gun in the other.
Dumbledore decided that he would never suggest a challenge in which hostages were required, it was too much trouble (or else he would provide a questionnaire in which they provided a list of who they would most surely miss).
