Title: There Are Some Days
By: Rose Taijiya
Disclaimer: I don't own Fruits Basket. Wow, that's a surprise there, ain't it?
Author's Note: An Akito/Shigure fanfic! Yes, another one! Nice, ain't it? Well, on with the fanfic!
There were days when Shigure would go to see Akito, and be turned away, whether by Akito or Hatori. There were days when he would just go in, and watch her sleep. There were also days when they might sit and talk, or, if the Goddess was in a bad mood, she would lash out at him with such ferocity that any other than himself would feel some pangs of hurt, or rejection. But Shigure never did, it was just how he was.
He was currently walking to the Main house, going to see Akito of course, even though Hatori had warned him against going, since Akito seemed to be in a particularly nasty mood, but, oh well. Too late to turn back now. And, besides, he did love to tease her.
Walking into the Main house, the first person that Shigure saw was Hatori, who was walking out of Akito's room, closing the door silently.
"So, you came anyways, Shigure?" Hatori asked, looking over at Shigure emotionlessly from his good eye. His left eye was, as it usually was, covered by his bangs.
"But of course I did, Haa-san!" Shigure answered jokingly, before becoming more serious. "…How is she?"
"…Akito has a high fever, and she's extremely irritable. All in all, you probably shouldn't go in to visit. She'll probably just throw you back out."
"Oh, I doubt that." Shigure answered, smirking. He then walked past Hatori and into Akito's room, opening and closing the door quietly.
Hatori shook his head slightly, and then walked away, sighing.
Once Shigure had closed the door behind himself, he walked toward where Akito was laying, only barely awake, and sat down.
"…Shigure…why are you here?"
"Shh…Akito-san, I'm here to see you, of course." Shigure answered, smiling lightly. "After all, why else would I be here?"
"…You really are loud…" Akito answered, but set her head on Shigure's lap anyways.
"Oh, that's just how I am, of course." Shigure answered, running a hand through Akito's hair. He stopped, feeling Akito's forehead. "You do have a fever. You should get to sleep."
"What do you think I've been trying to do?" Akito sighed, closing her eyes. "…Idiot."
"That's not very nice, Akito-san."
"So? Do you think I really care? Idiots should think what idiots think."
"Now, now, Akito-san. You don't mean that. I'm being nice, sitting here with you, aren't I?"
"You say that after what you did with her." Akito muttered.
"Of course that's what's bothering you, even after so long, hmm?" Shigure bent down close to Akito's ear. "Do you remember what I said, 13 years ago?"
"…"
"'I think of you more than anyone else. That is definite truth.' Isn't that what I said?"
"…"
"It's true, Akito-san, just so you know." He set her head down on the pillow again and stood. "I should go, and see how dinner's coming along."
A hand grabbed the bottom of Shigure's yukata.
"…Or not." Shigure sat back down.
Akito put her head back on his lap. She said nothing, and Shigure simply smiled and kept running his hands through her hair.
There were just some days.

Well, that's it! The end to the fluffiness. I hope I kept them both in character, review please!
