The alarm clock next to Minuette's bed went off with a loud bang. The blue unicorn hopped out of bed. Taking a moment to smooth the covers, she strutted over to the calendar above her writing desk. Just as she had expected, it was Wednesday, portal checking day. Minuette had to be in town square at precisely 6:30. Moving on to the bathroom, she brushed her teeth for exactly two minutes before heading downstairs. Minuette swiftly ate her usual breakfast of bran flakes and apple slices. After she finished reading the daily newspaper, the unicorn put on her saddlebags and strode out the door. After five minutes of walking, she found herself in town square at exactly 6:30. Minuette beamed with the knowledge that she was once again perfectly on time. However, her smile quickly fell as it occurred to her that Time Turner was nowhere to be seen. So much for being on time. She thought.

Time Turner slowly opened his eyes, letting the glittering sunshine in his bedroom embrace his smiling face in a gentle hug. No point in getting up until noon. His brain coaxed. You only have to work on Wednesdays. He closed his tired eyes again and soon took a blissful journey into his subconscious.

"Time Turner?"

The voice registered only as a faint whisper in the purple abyss.

"Mister Time Turner, wake up. It's Wednesday."

The dream world shattered and Time Turner was forcibly yanked back into reality. Ditzy Doo hovered outside his bedroom window with her mail bag.

"Ditzy?" he asked groggily. "Am I still dreaming?" Suddenly, as if reality had marched up and punched him in the face, Time Turner bolted upright in bed. "Wait, did you say Wednesday?"

Ditzy nodded. "Uh-huh. I saw Minuette in town square. She looked really mad."

"Minuette's there already? What time is it?"

"It's 6:45. You control time magic, shouldn't you know that?"

"Probably." Answered the brown stallion as he struggled with his saddlebags.

"Oh, you need some breakfast." Said Ditzy. "Here, somepony left a muffin in my mail bag. You can have it."

"Thanks." Time Turner mumbled as he caught it in his mouth. He would have stayed to say more, but the longer he stayed, the more likely Minuette was to shove him into a portal and make it look like an accident. He raced through the streets of Ponyville, chewing on the blueberry muffin. This is pretty good. I should bake more often. He thought. As he reached town square, Turner spotted an extremely pissed off Minuette marching towards him.

"WHERE IN THE NAME OF CELESTIA WERE YOU?" she roared. "We were supposed to have LEFT by now! You're a bucking TIME PONY! How hard is it to show up on time? I waited here for TWENTY MINUTES!"

"Okay, lesson learned. I'll get an alarm clock."

Thus, the two time ponies trotted off into the Everfree forest, completely unaware that the events that were about to occur would change their lives forever.
