Hi. So this story is semi-AU. Three years before Luffy set out to sea, he met Law. Law becomes his first mate and senior doctor of the crew. From when they first met to the two year time skip, Luffy could always depend on Law. Even after Ace died, he could always lean to him for support. They trained together, ate together and even bathe together. An alternate take of what happen before Punk Hazard and beyond.

Disclaimer: I don't own One Piece.

Three years before Luffy sets out:

Luffy's P.O.V

"Gomu Gomu no Whip!" I shouted as his leg stretched forward and hit the rock, breaking it into smaller pieces. I grinned, happy that I was getting the hang of my rubber powers. I can't wait to show Ace how much stronger I've gotten. I grinned at the thought of seeing Ace again. Taking off the straw-hat that Shanks gave me, I think about my dream and nothing was going to stop him. "Shishishishi! I'm going to become the Pirate King." Aiming for another rock, I yelled, "Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" my attack broke the rock in half, but, on the way back, it collided with my face. That hurt!

"Oi!" a high-pitched voice called out, "Are you okay?"

"Of course. I'm the future Pirate King, so I should be able to handle that." Turning around to face the person I had addressed, my brown eyes meet a pair of gray eyes. I leaned in to take a closer look. The person was a boy who was as tall as him, had gray eyes and had short dark blue hair. He was also holding a mushroom shaped hat.

"I see." The boy turned and began to walk away. "Goodbye Mugiwara-ya." And with that he took his leave. Who is he?

"Hey, Luffy," Makino greeted, "Is training going well?" She was always so kind to me. I looked up to her like a mother.

"Hi, Makino! Training's going great." I wonder if she knows who that boy was. "Makino, do you know a boy with dark blue hair and gray eyes?"

"A boy with dark blue hair and gray eyes? No, I haven't." Oh well. "Why do you ask?"

"No reason. I'll be going now." I left to find that boy. He has to be somewhere. After about an hour or two, I was about to give up looking for him. But then I bumped into a tall man with a black afro.

"Hey kid!" the stranger yelled. "Watch where you're going."

"Sorry. Sorry." I replied. I wonder if he knows that boy. Before I could ask, the afro man spoke again.

"You're lucky that you're a kid or you'd face the wrath of the Afro Pirate." So he's a pirate. "Have you seen a boy about your height, with light caramel skin, dark blue hair and gray eyes?" He's does know him. I grinned widely.

"Yeah, I've seen him. As a matter of fact, I was looking for him. Let's find him together." For some reason, the afro man smirked. I assumed that he was happy.

"Good idea. Now, tell me where you last saw him?"
