Pain.
The one thing that kept the young Red Ranger within the realm of reality, the only thing that brought him back to consciousness as he tried to recollect the events of moments before. Opening his eyes, he looked around him to see a terrifying and chilling scene. Scattered around him were the various, practically unrecognisable fragments of the Dino Zords and the Megazord that they had been combined as. That battle was mere minutes ago, but now it seemed like it was from another reality entirely.
Despite his vision still being a bit blurry, he could make out the lifeless bodies of his comrades in the distance, fallen in battle against their newest opponent, the Green Ranger. As his vision properly returned, it was clear that their fight to save the universe was at its end. Endless legions of Putties and monsters roamed the apocalyptic setting of Angel Grove, their invasion of the planet properly underway. Goldar and Rita themselves were no doubt bringing their own display of destruction along as well. Without protection, it was clear that the entire world would fall very soon.
He tried to get up, but found himself too weak and injured to be able to do so. The most he could manage was to reach over to his blood stained communicator and tap the button, hoping that Alpha, Zordon, anyone would respond. The final strands of hope fell around him as the familiar error sound rang out before another familiar and disturbing noise followed it.
Tilting his head to the side, he could see the tall, terrifying monstrosity that was the Dragonzord charging his way through what was left of the city, leaving nothing in its wake. It was funny, he thought, that after all their battles against Rita, her final victory would come by using another Ranger against them. The irony of it would have been funny if they had managed to defeat him, but it wasn't to be.
Weakly lying still, he recounted the fun times he had experienced with everyone, he didn't regret a second. The only thing he did regret was knowing that nobody would ever get to hear those stories or experience any new ones themselves. The sun was setting, a dark shadow befalling Angel Grove and moving onwards to engulf the entire world.
As he struggled to block out the noises around him, he heard another familiar noise near him. Hopeless, he waited for a few seconds before he received confirmation of the source. The Green Ranger, Rita's personal Ranger and murderer stood above him. A laugh rang out for a brief moment before he taunted and tormented the defeated Ranger, making it clear that the Command Centre had fallen and all hope for the universe was lost.
The evil Ranger held his hands in front of him, a bright green orb of light forming, shining brightly. The Red Ranger looked his counterpart in the eyes one last time as the green energy was thrown towards him, the green light turning to the darkest of darkness.
All was lost...
