Inspired by the song Dark Waltz by Hayley Westenra.

Slow, gradual steps alerted him to a presence just short of his awareness. Closing his eyes he pictured the slight slope of a lip that connected to his lover. The mere thought of his lover sent slight shivers of pent up emotions coursing through him. He now knew just how lonesome it would be…just how much pain it causes to bear the burden of a lost loved one.

Opening his eyes he pictured his lover; the lips, the blazing eyes, and fiery temper. He loved that temper, especially while they had danced. Movements that inspired poetry, the way his lovers hair shined in the moonlight, the way he turned his lovers body into that light that shone with such radiance. The subtle shift in every body part that showed the poise and grace of the highest born demon. No other could use each movement of the waltz to turn his soul into light, cure his nightmares and forget the world where his troubles lay.

These thoughts were banished as he turned to once again dance the dark waltz with his lost lover. He needed to forget the world, to forget himself so that he could feel the love that still rang true telling him that all was not lost. So there he danced for eternity, never letting his hope die, his light get low, his lover truly perish. Forever they dance, forever he forgets in a whirlwind of geometry.
