Title: Every Little Piece

Rating: K

Spoilers: Season 4 so far.

A cluttered mind is a gateway for disorder and disorder is unacceptable, if unavoidable. So she made lists. Lists for every possible eventuality and she's committed each one to memory.

It was how she got through those first three years at Harbor. No friends? Just run through the college list for the 300th time, checking off each successfully completed step with an imaginary red line and don't even notice the empty lunch table everyday.

Of course, step 27 (social chair by senior year!) on that list had complicated everything and suddenly she found herself distracted from what should be the logical progression to the perfect school. But then she had friends and a life and for the first time, she wasn't bothered by the fact that her mother had lost interest in having a daughter.

It was a short distraction and a little tweaking got her back on track towards college and perfect skin and someone who could be the one.

No one was more surprised when she left her lists behind and threw herself into an ill-fated marriage. France was…France. And she was alone and nothing was working how it was supposed to. This was her time, right?

She didn't want to go home, but she knew she had to. This wasn't on the list. Henri Michael was so close to perfect, but when she closed her eyes, it wasn't his face that she saw.

Newport was the same and so was her mother. The best thing Taylor had ever done, in her mother's eyes, was leave. She had ten minutes to grab her things and she left her lists in the desk. They weren't working anyway.

Then Henri Michael sent his letter and Seth was gone and there was Ryan.

No one had ever rescued her before.

For Ryan, she started another list. A small one, only two items:

1. Wait.

2. See.
