This Isn't

What Mom

Would Have Wanted

Disclaimer: I own nothing but what you see here. Fairly sure nobody's done something like this but I could be wrong. This is essentially a Fix-It Fic for a certain scene between Oliver and Thea in 5x14.

"You made a mistake, and it reminded me of something." Stated Oliver as he stared at his baby sister where she sat on the other side of her desk.

Thea gave him a curious look, wondering what that could possibly be. And if whether or not it had anything to do with his own personal experiences. "It reminded me of how our mother could be when it came to making certain decisions where her choices were concerned. And you and I both know she loved us more then anything."

A sad smile flashed across Thea's face at the thought of their mother. Someone she still missed horribly and wished was still with them as her brother sat down in the chair opposite her. "Which is why I know she would NOT have wanted you making these kinds of choices. If anything, it should have been ME making that kind of decision. My hands aren't clean and never will be. But yours… They need to be. Because the last thing I want is you becoming like me or our mother."

"But… Mine aren't… Not after what happened with Sara..."

"That was Malcolm, never you. Never will be." Came the firm response.

Causing her to blow out a breath as she knew he was right about virtually everything he'd said so far. Even if it did unsettle her a little as she hadn't really thought too much about pulling anything like their mother would have. "But the Mayor shouldn't be doing things like that though."

"Probably not. But I know how to hide things when I really want too. Otherwise, neither of us would be in this office today."

"Hmm… Good point."

Oliver got up and came around the desk to hug his baby sister. "Love you, Speedy."

"Love you too Ollie. And I promise to come to you in the future if something like this happens again. I can't promise my attitude towards Susan will change though."

He just chuckled as he pulled away. "Well, I personally hope it doesn't happen. And I wouldn't expect any less of you where Susan's concerned. Nor will I ever expect it as its your right to feel that way and express it."

"And he can be taught! A miracle!" Crowed Theae cheekily and laughing when he actually stuck his tongue out at her.

But then he just smiled, enjoying the good natured ribbing from his sister. "Come on, let's go get some Big Belly."

"Are you paying?"

"Well, I was gonna see if you would, but sure, why not." Retorted her brother good naturedly.

"I am sold!"

The burgers would definitely be enjoyable and would garner some much needed positive attention after things calmed down where the City Hall Scandal was concerned. Thea would even whack her brother over the head several times when he came up with the idea to throw his other self under the bus. And convince him to put the blame on Malcolm Merlyn instead. Explaining that he had faked his death and had been trying to get Thea to join him since the man felt she would be easy to manipulate but refused to have anything to do with him. Thankfully this worked and Thea would't feel bad at all for exposing that monster. Even if Oliver himself was a little worried about her state of mind over it.

Author's Notes: I HOPE I did this justice. Though I am certain some will still find some sort of fault with it. R and R!
