Author's Note-This is a story about Murtagh and a servant girl named Summer. I know Summer isn't a very Eragon-y name but I'm short on imagination. Not sure where it's going. Just started it out of boredom. It's based on events of the books to the best of my knowledge since I haven't read them both.

Disclaimer-I don't own the characters or anything. It belongs to Christopher Paolini.

Chapter 1

It was late in Uru'Baen. Thunderstorms and lightening were loud and stunning. Murtagh didn't like storms. He wasn't afraid of them. He just found them nerve racking. He had sitting there thinking back on everything the entire day. He hadn't expected much company until an old woman entered his room. The graying woman was accompanied by a guard and a young maiden.

"This," the old hag indicated the maiden. "Is Summer. She's for wishes whether they be chores, duties or on a more intimate level. She knows her place and is your complete servant. Whatever you should chose to use her for is your private business. She will live in the servant quarters the lead from your room. Have a nice night."

The old woman left with the guard, leaving Murtagh and Summer alone. Murtagh wasn't one much for the purpose of concubines and knew that being someone's complete servant was far from enjoyable. Only when Murtagh really looked at her did he rethink his views on concubines for a moment. Summer had bright green eyes, black hair to her mid back and pale freckled skin. She was just on the borderline of being thought tall. She looked very innocent and naive. The silence was rather awkward.

"Do you have any desires of me, master?"

Murtagh's thoughts that she were innocent or naive flew from his head with her choice of words. He thought it uncomfortable to have someone especially a young woman ask so bluntly on the nature of intimacy. Murtagh was no stranger to the act but he was he still a gentleman.

"It's late. There's not much use keeping you on duty," Murtagh stated clearly with his choice of words that he wasn't going be her lover.

"Then I shall retire but should you have any late night needs, master, I am at your beck and call."

"That won't be nessecary," Murtagh stated firmly though he was tempted. Summer simply nodded and left through the door to her new quarters. Murtagh thought about asking Summer to have a first name basis but he knew that would be fairly pointless to ask. People in Summer's position didn't understand the concept of first name basis with their superiors. He laid down, knowing that the first week with Summer would have a great chance of being very frustrating to him. He shut his eyes and went to sleep.
