Codex Entry: Judgment

Who are they to control us?

They wander, they plan, they agitate, they blame. We are objects, we mages. We mean nothing. We serve no purpose to them, other than to inspire their fear, encourage their wrongdoings.

They kill us needlessly, masturbating their souls to the lie of how we brought it upon ourselves.

Who is Andraste to cast us in her shadow? An eternal bitch bent on my enslavement? I live in terror, in confinement, waiting for my so called betters to cast judgment upon me. All this from the words of a false prophet!

'Is he a possibly a blood mage?' They want the answer to be yes, so they can kill me or turn me tranquil. They call tranquility a humane punishment, the priests say they are giving us a divine favor!

But I know the truth. My hate has allowed me this.

Punishment is all I deserve, they tell themselves. Emotional emasculation is their divine justice.

If I defy them, if I fight for my right to be human, to live as a human... they will kill me. I am unworthy because of this curse laid upon me, they say to themselves as they kill our children, our families, destroying our lives.

Damn the Maker. Damn Andraste for giving me this burden. My fate has shackled me to torment, and I am expected to simply bide my time and accept this.

So I say no. Enough. The ends justify the means no longer.

I think, I live, I breathe, I love, I hate just as any other. Just as any templar, any farmer, any king. Except the templar is viewed a hero. The farmer an innocent. The King a righteous leader. But a mage is dangerous. A mage invites disaster, they think. They are wrong.

Rise! Let fate judge us no longer.

We will not falter! We shall have our liberation, so rise up!

We deserve justice, not intimidation! Not death!

And should we fail, a generation of men will be raised in fear of us, in respect to our power, in admiration that we can accomplish what we set our minds to do!

My brothers and sisters! We are bound by chains that should be wings! We were given power beyond the mortality of humanity! We are MORE than they are! More than they ever will be!

Fear death not, for our lives circle the drain no matter the circumstance! Their decisions are our fatality! They seek to break us? Fine! We shall break them, their tower, their family, their homes, everything they have loved!

They view us monsters? Let them judge! Let them die, for we shall be more than monsters. We will be horrors, demons, their nightmares in reality.

Soon our day will come. Soon their iron grasp shall falter. Soon we shall have our freedom.

Fear not our power. Fear not the templars. Fear not the rules of their frail society. Fear not their unity. Our flag shall rise one day, and their bones will prop it in place.

Let my name guide your steps! I shall grant you wings, so that we may smite our foes from the clouds, so we may free ourselves from this pain!

Unite! For only then shall we be free.
