Concealed Feelings.
Tsuna and Takeshi were best friends. Ever since they met at 6th grade English class, they remained by each other's side. They grew up together, went through middle school together and approached high school together. They had fought (Tsuna), cried (Tsuna), and though over (again Tsuna) over their sexual orientation.
Tsuna was gay.
Yamamoto was straight.
Tsuna never had any problem with it and neither did Yamamoto until the 9th grade. In the 9th grade Yamamoto went to Tokyo for a week with the whole baseball team.
Tsuna was saddened but not much; he could hang out with his other friends until Yamamoto came back.
Tsuna, over the first few days was fine. Until one night Tsuna had a dream. Nothing important really. He had a dream that Yamamoto was back from Tokyo. Yamamoto had given him a hug when he saw him and then the dream ended.
Tsuna woke up and marveled about the strangeness of the dream. After if he was going to hug anyone he was going to hug his this boy he had a huge crush on. And he really didn't even hug people that much.
Tsuna got dressed and went to school unable to get rid of the feeling in his chest when he thought of Yamamoto . The rest of the week went by and Tsuna continued to inspect his feelings for Yamamoto .
It wasn't a crush, that part was clear, not a small crush or a huge one. All it really was a fond feeling of being around Yamamoto .
Besides his feelings, the rest of the week went fine until the last three days until Yamamoto came back. The feelings in his chest grew and grew at the thought of his friend coming back from Tokyo.
And then Yamamoto was finally here. Tsuna, having to wait until the end of school to see him, was happy as the bell rang. He saw Yamamoto and casually waved at him. He knew it wasn't a crush, no thudding hearts and no sweaty limbs.
And then as he grew closer to Yamamoto , Yamamoto opened his arms for a hug. Not wanting to seem like something was odd, Tsuna didn't hesistate and giving him a hug. Yamamoto gave him a few pats on the back and let go.
Tsuna smiled and they went to their class joining the rest of their friends. Tsuna was a little reserved in the conversation as his friends asked how the trip to Tokyo. Tsuna by now had to be an idiot if he didn't admit he was crushing on Yamamoto . His thumping heart proved that as he replayed the hug in his mind.
As they neared their class, gym class, realized how boring the class had been without Yamamoto. His personality had always been the center-piece for their group of friends and without it, they were lost.
Eventually the day ended, and soon Tsuna was in his bed. He thought about how happy he was that Yamamoto was back from Tokyo. He though about his new-found crush and he couldn't one negative thought from entering his mind.
Yamamoto was straight.
The feeling in his chest grew bitter at the thought. Yamamoto was straight, he would never have a chance with him. It was not fair! It wasn't fair that Yamamoto was straight. It wasn't fair that Yamamoto wouldn't like him because he was a specific gender. And it really wasn't fair that people couldn't like people based on who they were.
Tsuna realized that he was openly crying now, and twisted his hands in the cover and stuffed in his mouth so he can sob. The feelings grew bitter the more he thought about it and he couldn't help but think that it felt good to be crying, no matter how pathetic it was.
He had fallen for his best friend way harder than he had ever fallen in love (yes he dared say love) with anyone, and he didn't even have chance. A short bark of laughter escaped his lips and the crying subsided. His last thought before he wento to sleep was how even if he wanted to get over Yamamoto, he wouldn't be able to.
As he woke up next morning he pretended that nothing happened. He and Yamamoto had there friendly banter and all was well. He would never confess his feelings.
