It was a rainy day that dreadful afternoon. The small group of people dressed in black soon went their own ways as the funeral ended. The funeral of Ryuuji Kawara. Isa stood there in front of Ryuuji's grave as everyone left. He looked beside him and saw a sobbing Mrs. Kawara and a small sad Ryouta. Mrs. Kawara looked back at him when she felt that someone was looking at her. Isa looked away from her and back to the gravestone, not being able to stand eye contact. "I'm sorry for your loss," he muttered quietly. Mrs. Kawara said nothing in response and looked at the gravestone as well.

About 30 minutes passed before Mrs. Kawara and Ryouta left. As soon as Isa knew that he was completely alone, Isa looked from the gravestone to the dirt in front of it. "Goodnight, sir," he spoke softly and turned around, walking away.

The next day at work, he sat alone at his desk. He looked up to the door, expecting a heartful "Good morning!" It didn't come. Isa chuckled to himself. He's gone forever, Isa. Death is a natural thing. Get over it. As he was filling out paperwork, Isa caught something from the corner of his eye. It was some fabric hanging out of a drawer. Isa couldn't make out the other colours, but there were red streaks on it. He kicked his roller chair he was sitting in over to the drawer and opened it. The fabric turned out to be an extra tie Ryuuji kept at work. He held the tie carefully and brought it up to his face. Isa smelled the fabric. It still smells like him… Isa put the tie away in his coat pocket and continued his work.

Days have gone by and Isa has been more and more depressed. This morning, it was really bad. He didn't get up until around noon. He looked at the clock and sighed, picking up a phone to tell his boss that he would have to call in sick. As soon as the deed was done, Isa climbed out of bed and grabbed his lab coat. He gripped onto the tie in the pocket and carried it back to his bed.

Isa held the tie close to him and shook violently. His only friend he had was now gone forever. There was no coming back. Even though he told himself numerous times that he should not let it affect him, well… it was easier said than done. Isa noticed the pillow underneath his head was wet. He brought up a hand and touched below his eye. Tears. Isa wiped away his tears with his sleeve and closed his eyes, trying to go back to sleep.

Years have passed now. Isa finally accepted that Ryuuji was gone. No longer did he call in anymore sick days because of his depression. He decided to keep all of his emotions inside. Even though he still carries that tie with him everywhere, he finally accepted the fact that Ryuuji Kawara was gone forever.
