Winter's Gentle Parting
Snow is falling on wet trees
It melts upon the ground
We come from winter into spring
The air is sweet and sound
x
Walk along in empty streets
Under a cloudy sea
It's sopping wet, but I'm content
For you are here with me
x
Warm and gay gray evening comes
Yet you are hiding there
Behind cascading ebony
Such ever lovely hair
x
Come out of there I say
Lower your collar please
As I am very curious
And you are fun to tease
x
Then you look at me that way
With veiled eyes glowing bright
A faint glimmer of amusement
That makes my heart take flight
x
My hands are spread at the sky
To embrace the raining
I want to dance beneath its fall
But you're slowly fading
x
Do not leave just yet, Vincent
There is still time to play
Unless you smile for me tonight
You will just have to stay
x
His upturned lips do just that
So genuine and true
That I could nearly melt right there
Exclaiming like a mew
x
"Inside with you" he tells me
That wasn't what I said
Calmly he ignores my protest
And drags me off to bed
Author's Note: I can't believe I'm writing poetry . Well, this was inspired by all the warm weather we've been having up here, and how it was snowing and raining all day today, and there's still quite a bit of snow on the ground too.
A 'mew' is a type of gull, by the way.
Thanks for reading! Just for the record, I hate Quick Edit...
