Roses Are Red...
by MintChocolateChip

Daisuke fingered the long stemmed, blood red rose in his hand, looking nervously outside his window. He was sitting at his desk on one of those little rolly chairs, with one foot on the chair and the other firmly planted to the ground. With a determined look on his face, he started to scribble something on the blank note attached to the rose. He poured all his emotions into these words, as simple as they may be.

~There.. Well, no one's ever accused me of being a good poet..~ He sighed to himself, looking at what he wrote with a bemused smirk on his face. ~Oh well..~ He pushed himself up, a determined look firmly plastered onto his face.

"I told her to meet me in the park.." Daisuke whispered to himself. He had been sitting on this shadow covered bench for nearly an hour now, and truth be told, his bum was hurting. "Well, I guess she isn't coming.." He sighed and stood up, walking away from the forlorn bench.

..That is, when he heard a shout of familiar laughter coming from behind the tree that was shading his bench. Silently, he stalked over to the tree and peeked behind it.

A few feet away, Hikari and Takeru were lying, wrapped in each other's arms. Sure, they weren't doing anything.. intimate, but it was obvious what they were in was a loving embrace.

A wave of emotions swept over Daisuke; first raw anger, then hatred, then rejection, sadness, and finally overwhelming depression.

The rose fell out of his limp hand, and he turned around and walked away.

Hours later, Ken sat on the same bench Daisuke had once occupied. In his hands, he held a slightly wilted rose with a note attached to it. With shaky hands, he opened the card and started to read it aloud.

"Kari-

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I just want you to know
That I love you.

-Daisuke"

With practiced grace, Ichijouji Ken crushed the delicate flower in his hand. He stood up and dropped the mutilated flower to the ground, turning around and walking away in the same direction Daisuke had left hours before.
