The Tunnel
Prologue
The clock on the white-washed wall ticked, the only sound that could be heard in the small, stuffy, room. Scarlet fiddled with her fingers trying to answer the woman before her whose grey eyes stared softly at her through brown rimmed glasses. "Umm…" she managed to utter, feeling very uncomfortable. Next to her, Caroline tried to hold back tears as the memory of that Friday night ran through her mind. She suddered. Scarlet lowered her gaze, and sighed.
"I know this is difficult, but I need to know what you have been through so that I can help," Mrs. Thompson said in her generic therapist voice.
Scarlet shook her head, "You will never understand what we have been through, so how can you help us? We are wasting our time." She had a point; Scarlet and her friends have experienced hell, quite literally, and are fortunate to be alive. Only their friend Estelle had lost her life on that fateful night and her body has yet to be recovered from the dark abyss.
"I understand your concern, but you must give me a chance. Dr. Eckle has assigned you three to me and I am going to do my absolute best to help, but you need to help me as well."
Adele rolled her eyes. She had been filling in for Scarlet whenever she needed help remembering the gruesome details, yet, when asked to describe the creature, they had fallen silent. He was tall, unnaturally tall, with eyes that were dark and filmed over from his poor eyesight. His nails were long and dirty like the rest of his body, his smell worse than a sewer. Despite his gross features, it was his mouth that had transfixed them; it was stained red from the blood that dripped from his lips and teeth that were all crooked and wickedly sharp.
"All right, I guess we well stop for today. I have you scheduled for Tuesday at 3:30, is that all right with you three?" They nodded, unable to trust their tongue. "Great. I will see you then." She forced her fake smile as the girls got up and exited the room, glad to be out.
Author's Note: I apologize that this is very short. My sister and I, along with our friend, are all co-writing this, and we ran out of time. I have work soon and my sister has to get ready for catechism. Regardless, I hope this has caught your attention. This is based off the movie The Tunnel. Please leave us a comment! We love them!
