Ask A Silly Question
(Bit of nonsense between the Ghost Host and Gus. The Haunted Mansion is owned by Disney )
The Ghost Host knew better when Gus stopped and stared at him, but asked anyway.
"Gus, what's on your mind?"
"Sir, I hate to bother you.." said the little spook.
"No you don't," said Hosty.
"Right you are then,"said Gus "What's the word for a word that sounds like a word ?"
Hosty had stepped in it, so he played along. "A word for ? Oh, a homophone."
Gus looked at the nearby telephone. "I dinnt hear nuffin'."
"No Gus..look..f- l- o- U- r is a homophone for f-l-o-W-E-r, " said Hosty carefully .
"No issnot," said Gus indignantly, "you an' we is nuffin' like each other ."
The Ghost Host stared knowingly at the little ghost . Trying to explain things to Gus was like running laps in a vat of taffy..eventually one became exhausted , and had to go and have a little lie-down.
"Gus, you know what word sounds like a word?' he smiled.
Gus pondered for some time.
"Word?" he said, hopefully.
"Right !" piped Hosty, patting Gus' shoulders.
Gus smiled broadly as he looked into the Hosts eyes. "You remind me of someone ."
"Is it me perhaps?" said Hosty.
"Yea, that's it ," said Gus.
The Ghost Host folded his arms, then rubbed his chin. "So you're telling me that I resemble myself.. that's unnerving."
"Oh, no,Sir," said Gus reassuringly," Mustn't be alarmed..I'm sure it will pass."
Hosty open his mouth, then closed it as he looked to Gus. Then he did it again, in sync with Gus. Then they both folded their arms, and smiled.
"You know Sir, if you don't feel youself..they got this fing called Scream Therapy."
Hosty spoke through his hands, which now covered his face . "A lot of people scream when you're around, do they, Gus ?"
"I try to do my part, Sir, " smiled the little ghost.
"You know, there's a fellow a lot like you who could do with a good scream. He's at the end of the top floor hallway," smiled Hosty .
"The hall by the attic wiff a mirror at the end of it ? Say no more, " said Gus, saluting. "I'm on it."
It was a rotten thing to do to Constance, but served her right for trying to lop off his head at breakfast .
