I haven't done poetry in a while. It's probably because my other work, "Tact", appears to be flawless, which it really shouldn't be.
The Fleeting Age of Tacticians
Shadow, madness, fire slain,
All by swords of dragons' bane;
Emperor, tyrant, goddess dead,
Thanks to armies heroes led.
Second fiddle to their "friends",
Tacticians had planned those ends.
Malledus, Altea's wit,
Never had on Prince Marth quit-
Tricked the Shadow Dragon first
(Twice if illness not him cursed!).
First advisor hist'ry knew
Who set the "ideal mind" askew...
Mark of unknown origin
Won the impossible win
Against Lundgren, the Black Fang,
Nergal, and a dragon! Sang
The bards, "De-cades la-ter, he
Led his godkids to vict'ry!"
Innes, Frelian prince and archer,
Quelled Carcino 'fore departure,
Allied with the Renais twins,
Helped them cope with their friend's "sins",
And took part in ending rule
Of shadow with Rausten's jewel.
Soren, Tellius mage and Branded,
Guided Ike's comp'ny and handed
Ashnard and Ashera losses-
Both that were formid'ble bosses!
Mast'ry of nature and staff
Was prob'ly heightened by his "half".
Though these guys made evil halt,
Could tacticians be at fault?
Gharnef, who wore forest-green,
May have been one, hence his keen!
What if a tactical fool
Caused the Scouring, clever tool?
What if one had called Formortiis
Via methods hist'ry could miss?
What if one had caused "The Flood"
And made wars to spill new blood?
Nevertheless, this age will end;
"Peace" won't messengers to them send.
