A loud whistle, riding on the wind followed by the one voice that could drive Fred to murder, "Hey, lover boy!"
The knight visibly winced at the older mercenary's words before sighing. He always did this. Really, what made the mercenary think he could say something? He was a loyal knight! However he just turned to face the other, a frown on his face. "Please do not call me that, sir."
The older waved off his request, as always. "Yeah, yeah, whatever, anyway, Mamie just cooked up some fresh curry. Come try it, lover boy, maybe your taste buds will've gotten stronger."
He slung an arm around the flustered knight, who was quickly being dragged along to the café. Of course, Fred was going to take the silently, "B-but I was just on my way to guard duty!"
"Oooh, such a loyal obedient knight, you really are a lover boy, eh?" He slapped Fred's back with a laugh, getting them a table and calling for two curries. Fred just huffed, glaring discreetly at the mercenary. Really! Telling him to skirt his duties! Yet – yet he couldn't just get up and leave. He always sat and listened patiently to the mercenary blab on and obediently ate what was shoved at him. It wasn't like Duke ever said anything particularly interesting, he just liked to tell Fred stories of his heroic adventures that normally didn't seem all that heroic. Then again, starting a bar fight was never heroic in Fred's book.
"I shouldn't skip duty, what if we're attacked while I am not at my post?" Fred asked with a frown, cutting right into the middle of one of Duke's stories about saving a village from an evil lord (he had quite a number of those for some reason). Duke frowned at the question, proceeding to smash his mug of ale (Fred sword he was always drinking) onto the table.
"You worry so much about something that's not an issue. There's always more than one guard, we've never been attacked here, and if you really had such a problem with this you'd get up an' leave!"
"W-what?! I'm trying to be polite and this is how you respond? I am a good upstanding knight-"
"You're a romantic, lover boy. Knights do what's necessary, not what's right. They'll burn entire villages for survival."
"That's! A knight would never do something like that! It destroys the entire honor code of a knight!"
Duke laughed leaning over the table to flick the other's forehead. "I keep you around because you think like that, lover boy."
"Keep me around?! I am not your pet to do with as you please! Now if you'll excuse me!"
The scarred man raised an eyebrow as Fred stood to leave before his sword worn hands reached out to grab Fred, tugging him into a kiss. The knight grew red, trying to pull back only to stumbled over the chair and fall onto the stone flooring of the café. Duke laughed and stood, moving around the little table to pull Fred to his feet. He grabbed the indignant knights jaw roughly, holding him silently. "You're not my pet, but that doesn't mean I don't like you. So just give up your 'honor code' on one issue and admit you return my affection, mkay?" And with a charming smirk on that tanned face Fred could only stare, unable to defend the knightly honor he'd held so close.
Yeah, just a quicky. A plan to do a bunch of these for fun. I have a whole bunch of character pictures up on my computer and they're all organized into pairs so I know what I want to write next. XD R&R if you would, please and thank you
