His name is Jack Frost.
And right now, that's all he can say about himself.
But it wasn't like he didn't have any family.
His father and mother have long passed away from sickness since he was a child.
Because they are poor, they can't do anything about their illness.
That leaves both him and his sister.
And he swore that he will protect her, even if it takes his own life.
At least, that's what he thought back then.
.
.
1 month ago, Jack and his sister go to ice skating together.
His sister loves it, and jack promises to bring her again.
2 weeks ago, his sister asks him to bring her to ice skating again, but he said that he can't because of his work. His sister insists that she can go alone, and that she's not a child anymore.
Jack just laughs and said be careful.
1 hour later, at the work place, Jack receives news that a girl has drowned in a certain frozen lake.
He runs.
.
.
That couldn't be his sister, that couldn't be his sister, he chanted.
The nervous feeling won't go away.
And he keeps running.
.
.
Honestly, he can't think about anything rationally right now.
He forgets everything.
That includes the stop signal on the road.
And then suddenly, a car crashed at him.
.
.
When he wakes up, his whole body feels pain.
But he ignored that. He tries to move out from the hospital bed, until a nurse came in and tried to hold him, saying that he shouldn't move right now.
My sister!? How's my sister!? He screamed, panic overwhelms him.
At that, the nurse seems shocked for a moment, before slowly shook her head and stares at him sadly.
You are Jack Frost, right? I am terribly sorry to say this to you… but your sister couldn't make it. The people around there tried to help her too, but—
The nurse keeps talking but Jack didn't hear anything anymore.
The world around Jack shuts down.
.
.
Just then he realizes that his legs didn't feel any pain at all.
He can't move it.
.
.
Jack found himself living numbly in the hospital room.
His body thin, skin pale and his eyes doesn't spark any aliveness at all.
He didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't move nor speak.
.
.
He looks at the falling snows from the window.
What he should do now, what he must do, he didn't know.
He just can't feel anything at all.
He's already dead.
.
.
He grabs the wheelchair and proceeds to go outside.
No nurse or anyone stops him.
Silently, Jack thanked them.
.
.
He stops at the frozen lake.
No one's there.
But the crack's still there.
He looks to the sky, to the moon.
The snows keep falling.
After a moment, a little spark came to Jack's eyes. He thought that the moon would hear him.
.
.
He tried to move out from his wheel chair, to the frozen lake.
After he succeeds, he dragged himself near the crack.
He smiles, genuinely smiles, as the cracks widens to his place.
When he drowns, he looks at the moon.
.
.
.
[When I am reborn again,
I hope that I have a power to protect my family.]
