It was ten years ago today that I first met Nezumi. That sure was one eventful day indeed. But that was a long time ago... Now I am separated from him after our adventure together and I am now 19 years young.

I remember at one point I had asked my black-haired friend what date his birthday was. He replied in his usual lax tone, "don't have and or need one, I'm just a rat nothing more." But that was just his special way of saying that he didn't remember.

He had lived a solitary life after the old woman that previously took care of him died. And it wasn't like the old woman was related to him or even knew him all that well, but she raised him in a way.

When he was little, Nezumi and his family were apart of the Mao clan. But over a search for power, there was a holocaust in the clan from a power-hungry city. Nezumi is the only known survivor from there i know of and that he's mentioned. It all happened when he was just above the age to be walking and talking, so he had no possibility of knowing something as trifle as his date of birth.

But, going back to my point, when I had asked him his birthday and he replied his simple answer, I just told him this, "okay then! I will give you one!" He gave me a look of both confusion and of humor. "W-well because it's not fun to have no day to celebrate your birth!" I explained getting nervous suddenly.

"As you wish your majesty," he bowed over with his mischievous smirk on his face. My face grew warm and I turned my head to try to hide from him. "Well?" He said and cocked his head to the side slightly.

"W-well, I was thinking it should be.." I trailed off embarrassed to say it.

"Come on Shion, it's just a date, nothing special about it."

"September seventh." I said still embarrassed.

Nezumi chortled "September seventh.. Is that the best you could do? Your birthday?" My face changed to red.

"N-no!"

"Then what is it?" I really didn't want to tell him at all, just it was too humiliating to admit it, but I wanted him to know.

"U-um... Well... It's kind of thedaywemeteachother." I slurred all my words together really fast.

Nezumi paused and tried to comprehend my words but gave up. I took in a breath, "September seventh is, kind of, the day we met each other." I hung my head to try to hide my embarrassment.

"Oh, is that it? I thought it might actually be something heartfelt and embarrassing, you let me down there on that one!" He joked.

"S-shut up!" I shoved him to try to stifle any further commentary.

"Idiot," he sighed under his breath and shoved me back.
