A/N – This was written for the "A Very Slashy Valentine's Competition" by flutter of angel wings. She thought up the storyline, so thanks for that. I did think of the pairing, though – and I didn't realise how odd it was at the time. Anyhow…
There was only two weeks to go until the end of term, and I was excited about the summer which was about to begin. It was going to be great – I was going to sleep over at Susan's countless times, and I was going to see Ernie in his chess competition, and my cousin was going to get married, and Neville and me were going to learn how to bake together, and –
"Hannah?"
Shaken out of my thoughts, I turned around to look for the dreamy voice which had just called my name. To my surprise, Luna was standing, looking a little lost, gazing straight at me.
"Hannah, have you seen any of my possessions?" she asked me, her eyes big.
I vaguely knew Luna from around the school and slightly through Ron's sister, but I only really knew that she was nice and a little bit weird. "Sorry, Luna," I said gently.
Luna nodded. "It's alright," she said tiredly, sounding slightly sad as she sunk down to sit on the wall behind her. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her – and so go and sit down next to her.
"What have you lost?" I asked gently, putting my arm around her.
She sighed, and then, to my surprise, laid her head onto my shoulder. That was just Luna being odd – being upfront – just doing what she felt like, and not minding that it might have seemed weird. Though I was probably the most normal person in all of Hogwarts, I found myself not minding too much.
"I haven't lost anything," she said softly. "People take my things, Hannah."
I could exactly say that I was surprised by this, but I still felt bad. People should be doing that to anyone. Maybe Luna was a bit weird, but she didn't deserve that.
There was a short pause. From the top of blonde head lying on my shoulder, I could sense that Luna was trying hard not to cry, and, though I wanted to help, all I could think to do was ask – "can I do anything to help?"
Luna considered for a second, sitting quietly, and then she looked up so that we were staring at each other. "Hannah," she asked softly. "Can I kiss you?"
My immediate thought was that I should pull away and gently tell her that I wasn't a lesbian – but somehow, I found myself not moving, and just staring into Luna's eyes.
Feeling my heart speed up even as I did so, I slowly nodded, closing my eyes just as I felt the gentle press of Luna's lips against mine.
