Shattered

All this time spent in vain
Wasted years
Wasted gain
All is lost
Hope remains
And this war's not over

She wasn't always lonely.

She was surrounded by friends before war tore apart their home. They joked around, did stupid things, laughed until their chassis ached. Then the war came, and she had to reply to the call of duty.

She thought the war would end soon, but it never did show signs of stopping. The war grew so toxic, it infected and soon snuff out Cybertron, leaving behind a lifeless husk.

Not only did she lost her home planet. She lost love ones. Family, friends...

Partners.

Tailgate...

There was nothing she could do to save him. All she did was stood there and watch him die. She could have done something, stopped Tailgate from dying, anything...! But she wasn't strong enough to keep them both safe.

The war continued to seep into centuries, then eons. This long war had a beginning that was so unclear, it's intentions were long forgotten... and it wasn't going to have an end.

Out of all the hatred and malice, she found hope in another one of her intergalactic refugees, Cliffjumper. Through all the gray, Cliffjumper was the one who shined through the darkness. And he guided her out of her endless wandering.

She wish she could relive each moment with him, replay all the memories she had with him. The same time those happy moments whisked passed them so quickly, he disappeared just as fast. His deep laughter, the way he barged in loudly when it was suppose to be a silent mission, all the times he messed up that Arcee wanted to clobber him... it was all gone. She wanted it all back, but Primus himself couldn't bring back loved ones from the beyond.

And her world turned to gray again.

How could there be hope, when all of it was drained away from her? How could she face the faceless days when everyone she loved was gone because of... her? They all leaved her at one point or another... They always did! She would be the murderer... And it was all her fault.

During her time on Earth, she was a little uneasy to let in Jack, her first human friend. If they were going to leave her, why try getting close to anyone at all? She heard humans had shorter life spans. That proved her point!

But then... something told Arcee that Jack was different from the rest of the humans.

"I know how you feel."

"How do you know what I'm feeling, Jack? You're just a kid, a human! How could you understand someone like me?"

"After living in the darkness for so long, you feel like you can't step into the light, 'cause it makes you feel ashamed."

"..."

For a moment, Arcee thought she felt a spark of hope igniting in her sparkchamber.

Maybe trying to let others in, trying to get close to others... didn't come with strings attached at all.

And I've lost who I am
And I can't understand
Why my heart is so broken
Rejecting your love
Without love gone wrong
Lifeless words carry on

There's a light
There's the sun
Taking all the shattered ones
To the place we belong
And his love will conquer all
Yes, his love will conquer all...

Note*~

I was inspired by this tribute that I saw on YouTube to the song "Shattered" by Trading Yesterday, and I thought it would suit Arcee very well. ^.^

Hope you liked it. :) :D
