AN: Anything that happened in the last five minutes of 2x14 and on is irrelevant for this story. Things will be explained throughout the first chapter, it's pretty much setting everything up. It will bounce back and forth between Kol and Davina's perspectives.

Chapter 1

Davina leaned her head back against the headrest of the passenger seat and closed her eyes, breathing in the fresh air. The wind from the open window made her hair fly about the car, her clothing was filthy, and not to mention the tiny rock rubbing against her skin that managed to get locked in her bra was causing her some issues. She felt like a complete mess. But all that didn't stop her from sporting the largest grin she'd ever had.

She opened her eyes when she felt Kol link his hand with hers and bring it to his mouth for a quick peck to her knuckles. He was currently speeding down a back road, away from what was now one of her fondest memories. She always assumed girls were ridiculous in getting all excited over something that she once thought was so silly. She was a little cynical at times... Why tie your life to someone else in this day and age? Half of them would be getting divorced anyway!

That's right. Davina Claire was getting married. And she was giddy.

He hadn't gotten on one knee of course. That would be too cliche for him. Instead he'd simply pulled out a ring from his jean pocket and handed it to her before taking a swig of beer and leaning back against the blanket they had laid out across the forest floor.

"What is this?" she'd said.

"You know what it is." He smirked.

She rolled her eyes. "How romantic."

"Is that a yes?"

She'd simply smiled and nodded her head before they had their own private celebration.

Falling in love with Kol Mikaelson wasn't difficult.

She mentally laughed.

It was when he'd nearly died that she realized her true feelings for him. It took nearly losing him for her to understand what she was feeling. He was on his deathbed when Freya-his sister and the most powerful witch...well...ever-walked into the mausoleum chanting, reversing the magic their brother had done to him before disappearing right back out the door, Elijah and Klaus chasing after her while she and Rebekah stayed behind to aide him.

She bit her lip as his hand grazed her bare knee, his fingers playing with the hem of her shorts. "Next step is sharing the news with everyone," he said, smiling.

Davina groaned. "Don't ruin the moment," she said, giving a half-hearted laugh.

Kol rolled his eyes. "It will be fine," he assured her.

"I have to tell Marcel first."

He knew exactly what she was trying to do. She couldn't fool him. "Alright. You tell him in the next couple days, we'll tell everyone else at the weekly dinner Friday. That gives you nearly a week."

"I never go to those." She hesitated. "Besides...I'm doing a favor for Marcel Saturday and I was going to tell him then."

Kol glanced over to see her biting her lip nervously before returning his gaze back to the road. "Embarrassed by me, darling?"

She smiled fondly and batted her lashes at him. "Always am."

When Davina entered the bar, the last thing she expected was to see Rebekah leaving the back room with Marcel in tow. She was shocked! Even more so when she noticed him adjusting his jeans. The dark skinned beauty kissed him on the cheek before noticing the younger witch standing awkwardly against a table.

"Davina!" Rebekah smiled, bringing her in for a hug.

"Hey," she said softly, her eyes wide and smile tight. She pulled back quickly, knowing what they were doing back there and was a little more then disgusted with the thought and hug.

"Dee," said Marcel, trying and failing to hide his obvious discomfort. "I'll see you later, Rebekah."

"Now," she said, still smiling widely. "No reason to run me off so quick. I haven't seen you in a few weeks! Been meaning to get in touch-need to speak with you about something."

"I've been busy," said Davina. "I'm coming over Friday if you want to talk then. I actually really need to talk to Marcel about something. It's kind of important."

"Okay, okay," laughed the older witch. "I know when I'm not wanted!" She grabbed her purse from behind the counter, missing the knowing wide eyed exchange between Marcel and Davina. Giving Marcel another kiss on the cheek she waved to them both while leaving out the door.

"So, that's happening again." Davina couldn't help stating the obvious.

Marcel rolled his eyes but still smiled. "Watcha need, Dee."

Her nerves started getting to the best of her. Clamming up, she looked around her trying to collect her thoughts. Marcel didn't necessarily hate Kol anymore but the hostility between the two terrified everyone when they were in the same room. Kol once told her he simply enjoyed riling him up now. Nothing more, nothing less. She of course knew that wasn't true. He still carried some hard feelings from long ago but didn't want to admit it.

"You alright?" He put a soothing hand on her shoulder in an attempt to get her attention.

"I'm not really sure how to tell you this," she said, looking down.

"You're not pregnant, are you?" he asked cautiously.

"No!"

"Thank god," he said, letting out an unnecessary breath. "Last thing we want is Kol reproducing."

Davina narrowed her eyes at her former guardian. Her nervousness quickly turned to anger. "We're getting married." She crossed her arms, staring him down. "And I'm not really sure why you think it's okay to talk about him like that in front of me."

Marcel cringed. "I'm sorry," he said. "You're right, I shouldn't have said that."

His apology didn't seem to deter her from her anger. "We're telling everyone on Friday," she said, aggressively grabbing her bag from the bar top. "Don't tell anyone please. Including Rebekah."

"Dee-" He tried to stop her, but she wasn't having any of it.

"I'll see you Friday." With that she stomped out the door, leaving an embarrassed Marcel behind.

Kol smiled at his niece encouragingly. At only five years old she was well past where she should be, both academically and magically. While Elijah home schooled her with the help of a hired aide it fell on him to make sure she could control her quickly developing powers. He always knew she was special but seeing her quickly flying the teddy bear across the room astounded him.

"Bravo!" he exclaimed, clapping his hands once she completed the tenth circle around the room.

She excitedly bounced up and down, clutching her bear. "Can I go tell daddy what I did?"

"He just left, sweets."

Kol and Hope turned around to see Rebekah enter the atrium. The little girl, who was normally excited to see her favorite aunt, frowned. "Daddy left again?" she asked, deflated.

Kol closed his eyes for a moment, trying to reign in his anger. This would have been the third time this week Klaus had left without a word. Normally he would make sure Hope knew he was leaving and when exactly he would be back.

"Why don't you go get your jacket?" said Rebekah. "I need to talk to Uncle Kol and then after we'll go shopping."

He laughed at the tiny witches expression. As much as she loved her aunt, Kol knew she absolutely hated shopping with her. "I don't want to go shopping with you," she said defiantly, causing him to laugh even harder at her bluntness.

"That's my girl," he said, giving Hope a high five.

"Well," started the older witch, clearly offended and not knowing what to say. She stood straight and perched her lip. "What do you want to do then?"

Hope thought for a moment, swaying from side to side. "Can we go listen to the music?"

"Of course," she said. "Now go grab your jacket."

"What did you need to talk about?" asked Kol once Hope was out of eyesight.

Rebekah looked around her, making sure no vampires were lurking around. She pulled a sheet of old paper out of her purse, handing it to Kol. He unfolded it and his eyes widened.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"I've thought about it for a while now," she said. "Actually, I've been thinking about it for a few years. I don't think mortality is for me."

"You seem to be doing fine for yourself, sister," he said, looking over the all too familiar spell that would put her back into her original body.

"I can't take another month of blood coming out of-"

"Alright! That's enough!" He held his hand up, hoping she would stop there. She didn't.

"-my vagina. The cramps alone-"

"Okay! I'll do it!"

"Thank you!" She kissed his cheek before throwing the spell back into her purse.

"You know, you don't need this spell. You could just-" He made a cutting motion across his neck.

"That's cruel, Kol Mikaelson!"

"And possessing a body for nearly four years, whose soul is still attached to it isn't?"

Rebekah's body went rigid. "Since when did you become the morality police? I don't think you have much room to talk."

"I'm ready!" Hope ran down the stairs, having no idea of the hostility between the two siblings.

"I hear Davina will be here Friday for dinner," she said, facing Kol again and trying to ease the tension in the air.

"She is?" asked Hope excitedly.
