Prologue: The Burden of Reality
"Sometimes when there is nowhere left to go, we turn to our dreams for hugs and kisses…"
Auvyanna was sitting on her bed staring out her bedroom window as she listened to the shouts below. Her mother and father were fighting again and all she could do was wait it to be over. She couldn't stand the sound of her mother's screams and nor the sound of her being beaten across the face. All she could think about was how much she wanted to leave this place behind and go somewhere where she could be loved.
Auburn ringlets veiled her sad green eyes as she sighed heavily. She didn't want to leave her own mother behind but there was nothing she could do. If she tried to do anything her father would kill her. She glanced around her bedroom her form shadowed with despair. Auvyanna spotted the poster she had won from a local convention. Her old friend, Cythra "Crazy" Boon had all but dragged her there. That, of course, was before her best friend had been killed in a mall shooting.
"…Rejected by those who were supposed to care for and protect us, we seek out this invisible plain to hide from life's most horrible storms…"
She stared into his crimson eyes or optics rather, hoping she could be in his world instead. His torso armor was a deep purple while the lower half, well mainly past his knne joints, was a semi-bright green. The mouth was upturned in a deep scowl on his silver faceplate. On top of his helm were huge prongs that could charge up and fire off electrical impulses. He was her favorite villain of all time. Megatron.
Her mouth pulled up slightly in a sad smirk, 'Hah, like that would ever happen. Fate seems to find it humorous that I suffer in this Hell."
Although she knew his world wasn't real, she couldn't help but wonder how much better she would fare if she were there.
"..In our dreams is the place love can truly exist uninterrupted…"
Auvyanna nearly jumped out if her skin when she heard the shattering of glass. That's when she knew that she had to leave. Quickly, the sixteen year old climbed quietly off of her bed. She grabbed her school bag and dumped out the contents onto the empty mattress. Auvyanna stuffed in it two outfits and started to zip it up but stopped. She took her poster off the wall and the picture of her best friend, dropping them in her bag as well. Auvyanna zipped her bag and with one good swing she threw it against the window, breaking it instantly.
She didn't stop to listen if anyone had noticed as she bounded over the window sill onto the roof. She leapt off of it into the backyard, snatched up her backpack and ran for it.
Auvyanna didn't look back, she had to leave it in the past if she was going to break away. She could smell the rain in the air as she ran and felt as it began to sprinkle. It was only a matter of minutes and suddenly the sky opened up, falling upon her like the monsoon. Soon lightning flashed over head like an energy whip, brightening the quickly darkening sky.
Suddenly, her foot caught on a root causing her to spill over face first into the mud with a sickening squelch. Just as she staggered to her feet she felt her hair shoot straight up into the air.
"…Wishing with all my heart and soul to be in this would where my home truly lies…"
There was a blinding flash of light and then searing hot pain coursed through her entire bodu throwing her backwards into the tree of the root that had tripped her. Her being ached and her heart felt numb as her body hit the earth with a sound thud. Auvyanna's vision was very blurry and she could feel it leaving her. Her eyes hurt too much from the flash so she closed them. She could feel her heart giving in to the darkness. The teenager gasped sharply as her soul slipped away, leaving her there… or so she thought.
"…Only when I reach this realm will I forever be at peace."
