So, I recently read a HP/KOTLC crossover, and I loved it! Two of my favorite series in one fanfic! But then they decided to stop in the middle after two chapters, and I was so disappointed. So I decided to write my own HP/KOTLC crossover just for all you KOTLC and HP fans! Enjoy! :)
Disclaimer: I don't own Keepers of the Lost Cities or Harry Potter. I just own the plot.
ONE
"TRANSLOCATION IS BY FAR THE fastest and most dangerous method of transportation for any witch or wizard," Professor Wilkie Tycross, Ministry of Magic Official and Hogwart's Apparition Instructor, told the young wizards. "But it is also very simple. You simply must recall the three D's: Destination, Determination, and Deliberation. One must be completely determined to reach one's destination, and move without hast, but with deliberation. Now, for those of you who have passed your exams and successfully received your apparition licenses, please use your new ability responsibly."
"Can you believe it only took me two tries to get my apparition license?" Ron asked, his cheeks practically glowing with pride.
"Yeah, two tries and half an eyebrow," Harry whispered back, trying to hear Professor Tycross' speech. He couldn't get his license for another couple months, when he would turn seventeen.
"You have to let me side-along apparate you somewhere," Ron whispered excitedly. "Apparition is brilliant!"
"No way," Harry answered distractedly, searching the crowd for his other friend Hermione. As usual, she had aced her exam the first time, becoming one of the youngest to ever receive her license. "I'm still convinced passing your exam was a fluke. What if we apparate and I come back spliced? One scar is enough for me."
"So where should we apparate to?" Ron asked as Professor Tycross finished his address and the students were dismissed.
"I think we should go get some butterbeer from Three Broomsticks," Harry said with a last scan for Hermione.
"Brilliant! And don't bother looking for Hermione," Ron said as they left the Hogwarts grounds. "She's studying for the Alchemy exam tomorrow. Like she needs it," he scoffed. "She'll ace it, as usual."
"Yep," Harry agreed absently. It was snowing outside, and he tilted his head back, smiling as the little flakes accumulated on his face. Then a giant ball of snow exploded on the left side of his face. "Hey!" he shouted at Ron. Ron took off in the direction of Hogsmeade and Harry chased after him, occasionally throwing a badly aimed ball of snow at his best friend.
Harry finally caught up to Ron in front of the inn. "What're you waiting for?" Harry asked, panting slightly.
"How about we pay a little visit to Diagon Alley. We can get some of the new Blaze Boxes from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes," Ron offered, dangling the excursion over Harry's head like a carrot.
"And the catch is you want me to side-along apparate there with you," Harry said. "No way."
He pushed past Ron to get into the pub, but Ron grabbed his arm. "I'll buy you butterbeers anytime you want for a month," Ron said, pulling out his puppy dog eyes.
"Eew. Stop that. Fine, I'll go."
"Brilliant! Just grab my arm," Ron said, and then they dissapparated.
Harry and Ron appeared in a narrow alley with a small pop. "Well," Ron remarked. "We didn't disappear yet, so that's a good sign, but where the bloody hell are we?"
"This is not Diagon Alley, Ron," Harry said.
"I know. I thought about the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, and…oh no."
"What?" Harry asked.
"Well, I may have thought about their newest product, one of these snowglobes that can show you anywhere, anytime, even if it doesn't exist. And their trial run, someone asked to see the sinking of Atlantis."
"So you're saying we're in Atlantis? You're test was definitely a fluke."
"Well at least we aren't spliced," Ron retorted. "It could be a lot worse, mate."
Harry stared at his surroundings, awed at the pale blue light emanating from inside the buildings. "Look at this light. I've never seen anything like it. It seems to be coming from inside the walls, but it's not warm."
"Brilliant. Suppose we take tome of this stuff home with us. Gryffindor'd win the House Cup for sure!"
"What's with the weird robes?" a voice asked from the mouth of the alley.
Harry and Ron's head both snapped up at the same time. "Who the bloody hell are you?" Ron asked.
"I'm Fitz, and this is Keefe," the taller boy with the dark, wavy hair and teal eyes answered, gesturing at the blond boy with artfully mussed hair, ice-blue eyes and a carefully untucked shirt.
"What's with the weird robes?" Keefe asked, staring at them critically. "You're not Neverseen, right? Cause you don't seem like the type. No offense of anything," he added quickly when Fitz elbowed him.
"School uniforms," Harry answered immediately.
"Who are you? I've never seen you around Foxfire before," Fitz asked.
"Foxfire?" Harry asked. "Like the fungus?"
"Oh, you must go to Exillium then," Fitz answered, looking at them sympathetically.
"What's Exillium?" Ron asked.
"Well then where do you go?" Fitz asked.
"Fitz," Keefe said suddenly. "I can't feel their emotions."
"Seriously?" Fitz asked Keefe, taking a couple steps closer to them. "You're humans!" Fitz suddenly cried, pressing on his temples and backing away rapidly. "How did you get here? I'm going to have to call my dad."
"Of course we're humans. Aren't you?" Harry asked, watching as Fitz pulled out a small silver cube.
"Show me Alden," Fitz instructed, and a message flashed up. Harry and Ron couldn't read it because it was backwards, but they didn't need to. "Not in range!" Fitz groaned. "Again? I guess you two are going to have to come back to Everglen with us until my dad gets home."
"But Biana and Sophie are there," Keefe said, with a worried look at Harry and Ron.
"So? These guys are humans. We can easily take them."
"We're not just humans, though," Ron said proudly, holding up his wand. "We're wizards."
"What's a wizard?" Keefe asked curiously, looking once again at their strange clothing.
"Seriously? You don't know what a…wand, pointy hat? No? Well then. Hello, I'm Ron Weasley, nice to meet you," Ron said, stepping forward and taking a bow. "My friend here is Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. Ring any bells?"
Keefe and Fitz both just looked at Ron blankly.
"No? You've really never heard of Harry Potter? Harry Potter? The Boy Who Lived?" Ron shook his head at their ignorance. "Boy, you blokes've got a lot to catch up on."
"You still haven't explained what a wizard is," Keefe said. "And to be honest, I'm beginning to think you're making all this up. Now, let's leap to Everglen, and we can figure all this out there."
"What do you mean leap? Do we have to hop over a puddle?" Ron laughed. "No? Okay. Tough crowd, this one," he told Harry gesturing to the two elves.
"What my mate is trying to say is that we're a little confused as to what we're doing here. Why are you in Atlantis? And what's Everglen? And why do we have to leap to get there?"
"Whoa," Keefe said, stepping closer. "I'm pretty sure the last time I checked, humans didn't know Atlantis existed, let alone how to get here. So I think you're the ones who need to be answering the questions."
"Let's just get back to Everglen," Fitz said, running a hand through his wavy hair. "If you'll just follow me," he said, heading out of the alley and into the streets.
Ron and Harry got quite a few curious glances at their attire, but to Fitz's relief, they weren't stopped. But when they stepped into a giant bubble and started to rise, Ron started freaking out. "Harry, mate. Do you see this? We're underwater. We've been underwater this entire time. Bloody hell!"
"Okay," Fitz said. "I'm going to need you to take my hand and think of nothing but me hand, alright?"
Ron and Harry looked at each other skeptically. "No offense, mate," Ron said, "but I'm just not into you that way."
Keefe gaffed. "Fitz…" he laughed. "Did he just…" he erupted into more laughter. Fitz just sighed. "Listen, mate," Keefe mocked. "This bubble here is about to pop, and if you want to go plummeting to your death, be my guest. But I suggest you listen to the elves on this one."
"Very funny, mate," Ron fake laughed. "You know, I've met a few house elves in my time, and I really don't find it funny—"
"Good, neither do we. Now please. It's very important we all grab hands. You two need to think of nothing but our hands, alright. This is very dangerous. Keefe, do you think you could share some concentration? I'm not sure I can thoroughly cover three people."
"I don't know—" Keefe answered Fitz.
"I just need you to take half the redhead."
"It's my defining feature," Ron answered.
"I'll try," Keefe answered, ignoring Ron's comment.
Then the bubble popped and they began to fall.
Please please please comment plot ideas. I only have one more chapter and am a little stuck. If I don't get any new ideas in the next couple weeks I'll probably take it down. :( So please help out a fellow aspiring author! :)
