"No!" she screamed as she cast a protection spell around him. "No Harry, he's not worth it. We've saved him from the fire, now go!"

Harry listened. He ran, leaving them alone.

"Thank you" he breathed into her hair as she embraced him.

"I couldn't let him hurt you," she replied, "I can't lose you."

"We're in the middle of a battle Hermione."

"I don't care Draco. I love you too much to lose you." She kissed him with everything she had, pouring all her hurt and hope and love for him into it. He kissed her back just the same. "Just promise me you'll live."

"I'll be okay."

"Promise me Draco."

"I promise" he whispered.

Everyone was gathered in the great hall. It had become and unofficial hospital ward after the last battle. She walked slowly through the doors and up to the large family of redheads mourning their own. Silent tears flowed down her cheeks. A hand rested on her shoulder and she leaned into the touch.

"Hermione," she heard someone whisper, "it's okay. You don't have to be here."

"I want to George," she replied, "you need me."

"Not as much as you think," was his simple reply, "go, go find him."

"She doesn't need to" she heard someone reply. His voice was so familiar and yet so strange to her. Turning, she ran into his arms not caring who saw or what they thought. He was here. He was alive. "I promised you I wouldn't die, he soothed into her hair, "I always keep my promises."

"I love you Draco Malfoy."

"I know. I love you too Hermione Malfoy."
