i do not own these babs nor the bbc
Mycroft checked his watch as he made his way up the stairs to the door of 221B Baker Street. 9:32 AM: his brother would no doubt be awake and loitering around the flat with nothing to do, and it seemed a good time for a chat. Finally reaching the top of the stairs, he paused to regain his breath and made a mental note to start really sticking to his diet. Umbrella in one hand, he used the other to knock twice, sharply, on the door, and then to turn the handle and swing it open, stepping inside and announcing, "Sorry to barge in on you like this, dear brother, but I simply—"
He stopped, falling silent, and slowly, his eyebrows rose.
John and Sherlock were each sitting in their usual arm chairs, each with a cup of their preferred tea, wearing perfectly normal clothes, the former with his laptop and the latter with his violin. Looking up with mild surprise at their visitor, they were a picture of a totally unsuspicious, ordinary morning.
To the untrained eye.
There was a silence for several seconds after Mycroft's abrupt halt. "Er. Hi, Mycroft," John tried, finally. "What brings you here?"
Mycroft stared at the two for a few seconds longer, and then shook his head, turning away to fix his tie. "I can only hope," he said gravely, "that you used the proper protection, and were both tested at a well-reputed clinic prior to—"
"OUT," said Sherlock, loudly, a deep pink flush rising in his face and his violin almost snapping in half in his tight grip, while John's head was already in his hands as he murmured to himself, repeatedly, "How… how the hell… we weren't even… how?"
Mycroft sighed softly, looking back over at Sherlock with a stern look that he hoped conveyed his feelings on the matter. "I suppose I'll return at a less intimate time, brother," he said derisively, and turned on his heel to leave them behind, only catching John saying, "Well, I suppose if anyone can keep a secret—" before shutting the door on the whole matter.
