A Date?

Steve Peck stared at the champagne flute he was holding in his hand and smiled softly to himself. He certainly hadn't thought that at some point during Noelle and Frank's wedding he'd end up holding Traci Nash's glass while she chased after some finger food.

Okay, he could admit to himself that when he'd shown up at the 15th that morning he'd hoped that he would see Traci and talk to her, he'd hoped that at the end of the day he'd maybe talk her into dancing with him or even talking to him but to imagine that he'd end up spending the whole day with her running wedding errands that he certainly hadn't thought about.

He spied her chasing after the waitress and wasn't surprised to see her making her way back to him with the whole tray. She obviously hadn't been kidding when she'd said that that was the best part of the wedding. She smiled at him and waved when she noticed his look and was waylaid by McNally and Collins who'd just shown up for the wedding. As he watched her talking to her friends and keeping them away from her tray Steve thought to himself that he couldn't remember a day he'd enjoyed more in recent months. In fact, spending the day with Traci had been like… and he couldn't believe he was even thinking it…like a great date.

Traci left Andy and Nick and made her way back to Steve. He was still standing by the food table where she'd left him holding her glass. Traci couldn't believe how much fun the day had been, she'd had a million errands to run including talking Noelle out of running away, but all in all, Traci couldn't remember a day she'd enjoyed more in recent months and she was realistic enough to know that some of it, who was she kidding, most if not all of it was because of Steve Peck.

When she'd met him in the parking lot earlier in the day and he'd offered to drive her around, Traci had just been grateful to get a moving car but now she was grateful that she had made a friend and had had a great day. Steve could be annoying, that was probably a Peck family trait, but he was also kind, although he pretended to be offhand, and had a weird way of making things work. He had somehow managed to make all the errands fun and now if Traci had had to choose anyone to take to the wedding with her she would have chosen Steve without a second thought. He would be a great date, scrap that, she told herself. He had been a great date.

"So, thanks again for all your help." Steve was dropping Traci off at her apartment. She'd found out that he'd had someone look over her car while he'd been driving her around.

"I guess I could have just left you at the wedding," Steve replied, "But I didn't want you to have to bother anyone else."

"Okay," Traci smiled at him. "Thanks anyway."

"Goodnight, Traci."

"Goodnight, Steve."

He thought of offering to drive her around the next day, her car was still at the mechanic's, but he didn't want to push his luck, so he watched as the lights came on in her apartment and drove off.

See you at 10:00 sharp

Steve looked at his phone and smiled, he was about to reply when another message came.
