The name's Elphaba. But all my friends call me Elphie.
Okay, not really. My real name is Emily, Emily Felton. But I insist on my friends calling me Elphie. Yes, I'm a huge fan of Wicked, in case you didn't guess it yet, Sherlock. I even call my best friend Gabby "Glinda".
Enough about me. This story isn't about Wicked. It's not about Broadway. It's about being sucked into a well-known world. That's for later, though. Let's just say that it was far, far, away from our known world.
So, it all started as Gabby and I were walking down the hallway at Tartalia Junior High, chatting about Shrek the Musical, which we had seen over the weekend. The bell had just rung, and we were heading home.
"I don't care if I'm 14 years old, I thought it was cool!" I exclaimed, punching Gabby lightly in the shoulder.
"I totally agree, Elphie. You only saw it for John Tartaglia, though. And you ended up loving it." She said back.
"Yes I did." I agreed, laughing a little. I pushed open the front door of the school to leave, when Gabby stopped me.
"Wait a sec. I need to go check the lost and found for my jacket." She said.
I sighed. "Alright. But let's make it quick, we don't want to miss the bus." I said, grabbing her arm and hurrying down the hall to get to the lost and found. Couldn't Gabby find it tomorrow? I thought. Sometimes she annoyed me, always having to do things as soon as possible.
We approached a large table, jackets, books, and other miscellaneous stuff piling up on the table. Gabby started digging through the items on the table.
I would of helped her, but something caught my eye. It was a small box on the floor, like something you would hold a ring in. It was labeled "DO NOT OPEN, DANGEROUS". Naturally, I picked it up and showed it to Gabby.
"That's nice." She said, only taking a quick glance at it.
I sighed, opening the box. "Do you ever follow directions?" She asked, a smug grin on her face.
Inside were two necklaces. They were silver chains, and on the bottom was a glowing green star. "Check it out!" I said, tapping Gabby's shoulder.
Gabby stopped what she was doing, and marveled at the necklaces. "Wow..." She said, touching one of the necklaces. "They're so pretty!" She took one from the box and unlocked the clasp.
"What are you doing? Those aren't ours." I said, trying to take the necklace from her.
"Relax, Elphie. The box said dangerous. Whoever had it probably doesn't want it, and just put that on there for fun." She said, putting on the necklace.
All of the sudden, there was a large flash of light, and Gabby's scream was heard. The air around her started spinning. I quickly grabbed her by the arm, stuffing the other necklace in my pocket. We were lifted off the ground, then suddenly dropped. I felt myself fall through some kind of roof, and then hit the ground with a loud THUMP.
This spelled "BAD" in seven different languages.
