I was sitting by the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room drinking
a strong cup of hazelnut coffee. It was about four o'clock in the morning,
and I felt like I hadn't slept for about fifty straight hours, which I
hadn't. The reason being I hadn't slept was because the new Divination
teacher, Professor Starr, who was hired this year (my fifth year in
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry), had predicted that I would die
in my sleep very soon.
I actually believed her because everything she said so far was true, like the time when she predicted that "white particles will come from the sky and cover the earth like none other." There was three feet of snow the next day. She also gave Hermione a beauty tip, and said, "If you don't wash your face tonight, your face will have a flaw on it the next day." And Hermione didn't wash her face that day and woke up with a zit in between her eyes.
So that is why I actually believed that I was going to die if I fell asleep. Truth was, caffeine wasn't doing my body much good anymore, and I was sort of becoming immune to it. I'd fall asleep any minute. Come to think about it, what would only a few hours of sleep do to me. It's not like I'm going to die in just a few hours, so I decided to go to sleep.
I put my empty coffee cup on the small stand next to the sofa chair I was sitting in, and trudged upstairs to the fifth year boys' dormitory. I slowly and quietly walked into the dormitory where Seamus, Ron, Neville, and Dean were sleeping peacefully. I looked around paranoid, just in case I'd see someone waiting there to kill me and I saw nothing except the four boys in my dormitory, and none of them were about to kill me. I was sure of it.
So, finding no evidence that I was going to die that night, I flopped on my four-poster and fell asleep almost instantly. Little did I know that I would never again wake up to see the light of dawn, or the shine and moon of dusk.
