You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in fields of gold
The old Mudsdale stood in the golden fields taking in his scenery. He felt the barley brush against his greyish brown fur. It tickled him, but he started walking slowly in the fields as if he was searching for something. A gentle breeze touch his face and he closed his eyes for a moment. An image played in his head. The image was of something he once loved that was now long gone.
Slowly, he opened his old tired eyes and there before him stood the image he thought of. In the fields stood a Rapidash with fiery mane and tail which did not burn the barley. She was looking at the afternoon sky and smiling.
So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of gold
"I miss you," Mudsdale whispered his words which the breeze carried.
He knew what he saw was a mirage, but he wanted to believe that she was there standing before him. That her flame didn't die out long ago. The Rapidash looked towards him and walked towards him.
"If there was anything I could of done to save you I would have done it in a heartbeat," he shed a small tear as the apparition approached him.
Now the Rapidash was in front of him. She rubbed her head against his strong neck. Despite her fire, it didn't burn Mudsdale the slightest. He didn't even flinch. Instead, he wish for it to burn him just to feel her warmth again.
Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of barley
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in fields of gold
Mudsdale looked up at the sky as his tears fell from his eyes. The sun was shining down on the field making it look like it was gold itself.
"This is where we first met," Mudsdale chuckled to himself. "We use to spend everyday here in these fields and admire there beauty."
See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of barley
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold
Mudsdale didn't know if he was going insane or if these were his last moments of life. What he did know was that he could see her as clear as day. He could see the sun shine upon her, feel her touch, it all just felt so real to him.
"We would walk these fields, just the two of us. Neither of us cared for anything, but this place and these moments," Mudsdale whispered.
Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
Tiny embers from Rapidash's whole body flew into the breeze. She was disappearing and Mudsdale didn't want her to go, not again.
"I know now you're just a memory, but we still have this field. This place and here is where I know you'll be," he looked around before giving a small chuckle. "You once called this place fields of gold. At the time I didn't understand why, but now I know."
Rapidash looked up at Mudsdale and smiled up at him. Despite the tears he shed in front of her, he gave her his best smile.
"I love you," Mudsdale said as she faded away into the wind through the fields of gold.
