A Nightmare Too Remember

There was only 20 minutes left until Nicholas parents came home and I was starting to get very impatient. It was 9 o'clock which was Nicholas's bedtime so I decided to check on him up stairs. "Hey, Nicholas it's your bedtime and if you're not sleep when your parents get here something dark and scary will come after you," I said. He replied with the same lame excuse as all the other kids I can't sleep. "Sidney can you please tell me a bedtime story?" Nicholas said. Fine, I tell you a story if you promise to go to sleep right afterwards, I said. The little boy just nodded and smiled while I was completely uninterested. I am going to tell you a story about the Carrington family; my best friend told me the story last week. On December 24, 1921 the Carrington family were all sound asleep in their beds. They lived in a huge home right here in Stonewell, Virginia only a few streets away from us. In the home lived Mr. and Mrs. Carrington along with their four children three boys and one infant girl. The Carrington's living room was beautiful with a Christmas tree that had presents all around it for the children. Unfornately, the candles that surrounded the Christmas tree somehow fell onto the tree. The living room was downstairs away from the bedrooms so the family did not even know about the fire. When the smoke and fire reached upstairs the children woke up screaming and crying waking their parents. The Carrington family tired to open up the windows in every room upstairs but all of the windows were frozen shut with fire surrounding them. The children's father was found burned alive downstairs; I heard he became very desperate to save his family. The mother and children where all burned beyond recognition upstairs in the children's playroom. Apparently people say that when they pass by the burned Carrington's house they can hear the children cries and Mrs. Carrington banging on the window and screaming for help. Ok, now it's time for you to go to bed. "Sidney why did you have to tell me a scary story?" Nicholas said. "Don't worry Nicholas it was a long time ago and ghost are not real;" I said and practically ran out of his room. While I was speeding walking downstairs getting ready to leave, I slipped on something on the floor. It was a picture label the Carrington's 1919. I looked at the picture harder and noticed something that made my heart drop, in the picture there was a little boy who looked like Nicholas. I looked at the back of the photo and read the names Mr. and Mrs. Carrington, Joseph, Henry, baby Susan and Nicholas Carrington. I immediately dropped the picture my hands trembling with fear. Then all of a sudden I heard little footsteps behind me. "Sidney?" Nicholas called. I turned around to see a small boy with completely burned flesh, no eyes, no ears, and a horrifying disfigured face. "Sidney can you come up stairs I want you to come and tuck me in, I can't sleep," Nicholas said that in an almost too angelic voice.

AUTHORS NOTE: Well I know this is not a typical R.L Stine Goosebumps story but I love to watch the Goosebumps television show and write horror stories so I hope no one is disappointed. I originally wrote this story on Wattpad named A Babysitters Bedtime Story. Feel free to review, favorite, and follow because if you like this story I might write more!
