This is pure fluff, written on my return flight from London after spending a fan weekend with Amanda Tapping. During her Q&As, she was asked what Sam Carter might do if she was retired or had leisure time in the future. Amanda playfully suggested that "Sam would buy acres and acres of land around a certain cabin in Minnesota." Hmm, maybe the deal went something like this ... Of course, Sam and Jack belong to MGM; no copyright infringement intended.

Hundred Acre Wood

"Are you sure? It's a big decision." His hand rests on hers, squeezing gently.

"I think I'm ready for this." Searching blue eyes meet serious brown eyes as a blonde head nods.

"Then go ahead, sign the papers. I just want you to know what you're getting into ..."

Blue eyes twinkle. "I've read the fine print. I'm a big girl."

"You don't mind the proximity?" Shoulders touch; hands re-unite.

"I welcome it."

Other hands push the document across the table and offer a pen.

Giggle. Pause. "I should have done this ages ago."

"I told you so."

Colonel Samantha Carter signs in the designated spaces.

General Jack O'Neill (retired, USAF) grins proudly and settles back in his chair. "Now the fun begins."

Third party collects a copy of the paperwork and leaves.

Silence. Chairs scrape. The colonel and the general kiss.

"Acres and acres of prime real estate, sitting in my back yard for years just waiting to be discovered."

Heads touch as eyes scan the remaining document, carefully.

"Do you think they'll accept my bid?"

"He lived there all his life, no immediate family to contest. The state will be happy to sign it over to a very well respected astrophysicist. I predict that you'll be the new owner within a week."

"And then?" Legs brush; lips linger over a longer kiss.

"And then we become neighbors."

"Are you sure that my pond has fish?"

"Your 'pond' is a lake, with a gazebo and two private docks."

"You're not jealous?" A quick nuzzle and then, "Why would I be jealous?"

"It's a much bigger property."

"And you'll need help whipping it into shape."

"I thought retirement meant leisure time."

"I like to keep my hands busy."

Soft chuckle. "I've noticed."

"There's that. But building a log cabin is fun too."

"I loved Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid. I think I'm going to like living down the road from you."

"We'll clear a path." Another kiss, soft and sweet, ending with a nibble on the lip. "Welcome to my world."
