The Little Bird that Could~Prologue

There once was a little bird that only had one leg. His name was Mr. Fred Bird. I had first noticed the little creature whilst talking amongst my friends. Little did I know how much Mr. Bird would inspire other birds and humans alike.

The Little Bird That Could

Right there on top of the Mt. Carmel emblem, was a bird walking as innocent as can be.

I thought it was cute, for about a minute, until it became evident that the bird was actually walking on top of the MC. I felt like shooing it away, because after all, it was on top of the MC. And thatwas considered disrespectful for the school's legacy.

Still, I felt like it was pointless anyway, so I endured the pain in my chest as I winced as the bird finally walked away.

It was that day that something would ultimately change my life. That day, I discovered the true meaning of determination.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I remembered the fresh air and the coldness of the morning. Then, suddenly, during a Break, I happened to notice a bird walking on the MC.

And it wasn't an ordinary bird. No, it had one leg. That's right. One leg. One foot that carried the small frame of the poor bird. One disability that suddenly changed the appearance of that particular bird and its way of life. That bird had to suffer the consequences of only having one leg, one foot. One burden that he had to wake up too, and say, "Oh, I forgot. I only have one leg. Poor me."

That day, I was sitting on my desk pondering, is the bird still alive? Did he get trampled by the gigantic people around him, and was left there, to suffer in enduring pain? Did he die a slow, painful death? In a moment, I recollected myself, and realized that I was thinking about a bird's life. A bird.

Yet, I still wonder to this day if the bird that could is still walking on top of forbidden signs to this day. I will surely miss that bird, and all he taught me.

And what do you ask? What have you learned from this pathetic, little bird? Pathetic, you tell me? Oh, no. Not this particular bird.

This bird has shown strength, determination, persistence. And you ask me what the moral lessons are? Well, fine, I have told you, and now I will explain it in greater detail.

And I of all people have learned: It's not to the strong that victory is given.

It's to the one that endures to the end.
