Airwolf is somebody else's, probably Universal's or Bellisarius', and I freely admit that whoever's it is, I'm borrowing their show and they retain all rights, etc.
This is the sixth story that I'm writing to cover the period between the end of the 3rd season and the beginning of the 4th. If you have read the other five (Single Parent Hawke, The Jade Wolf, The Truth About Caitlin, Old Friends New Enemies and Hawke's Wolf), you can skip straight to the story in the next chapter…or read this brief recap of the story so far.
Stringfellow Hawke has said farewell to Le, the boy he incorrectly believed to be his nephew. Le is now living in Seattle with his newly found mother, Ana. After Caitlin O'Shaunessy almost dies saving Hawke's life, Hawke asks her to stay in Texas where she is safe away from him and Airwolf. However, as he misses her terribly, he starts to realise just how much Caitlin means to him. When Hawke, with the help of Dominic Santini and their friend Jason 'Doc' Gifford, saves the President on a trip to Russia, he and Airwolf garner the attention of a presidential advisor, General Bening. He makes it clear to Hawke that he wants Airwolf. Hawke and Michael Coldsmith-Briggs III, the deputy director of the FIRM, agree to keep Airwolf quiet. Hawke is about to go to Texas and ask Caitlin to return when she turns up at Santini Air. The couple happily begin a relationship even though Hawke remains worried that he'll lose Caitlin like so many others in his life.
They only have a few weeks to enjoy their new relationship before General Bening, strikes; he establishes a task force, targets Santini Air, and even shoots up Hawke's cabin as he tries to capture Airwolf. A blindfolded Michael is taken to the Lair for the first time as the team are chased into hiding. The team's fight back begins and they work a cold murder case to establish that Bening killed his wife. They trick him into confessing his crime but Bening escapes and Hawke is forced to shoot him down in an aerial battle. The evidence they have gathered though convinces the President to disband the task force and all responsibility for recovering Airwolf is handed back to Michael. The spy is happy with the current status quo and gives the team a welcome home present by installing brand new state of the art equipment into the Lair having left a tracer behind on his previous visit. Hawke accepts it, and Michael's assurance that he'll take the location of the Lair to his grave, grudgingly and he tells Michael not to visit uninvited…
And now the next instalment: Father Figures.
